MS. MARVEL, specifically Kamala Khan, is f*cking amazing. Not to put too fine a point on it. It's everything the most classic Marvel comics have ever offered - adventure! fun! humour! memorable characters! great action! But, unlike much of mainstream media, MS. MARVEL does it all while also being progressive as all hell. Showcasing the experiences and upbringing of a young Muslim-American woman, this is a rare outsider story that is at once highly specific, yet relatable. In short, it's everything the two white men hosting this podcast have always wanted!

LUMBERJANES, the hit comic about ladybros and their fantasy-genre girl scout adventures, is a breath of fresh air! Created by Shannon Waters, Noelle Stevenson, and Grace Ellis, the five Lumberjanes have stormed their way into the world's pop culture heart, and has even been optioned for a big hollywood movie. But we're here to answer the real question: Is it any good?

Well, yeah. Yes. Yes, it's super good.

MAD MAX FURY ROAD! George Miller's feminist action spectacular! God, what a breath of fresh air this movie was. Tom Hardy stars as the titular Max, but who cares, because this is Charlize Theron's film as the incredible Imperator Furiosa. Sisters are doing it for themselves!

We're joined by Tyler Heppell and Jenna Reid to talk a world driven insane by toxic masculinity, the need for feminine ideas to be given as much credit as traditionally male ones, and the way this movie uses balls-to-the-wall incredible action sequences to rail against the status quo. HITCH was a smash-hit romantic comedy for Will Smith, Eva Mendes, and Kevin James back in 2005. But what if we told you that this seemingly inoffensive, charming movie about a "Date Doctor" finding love is actually super weird and harmful? Aside from having a main character who's a proto-pick up artist, HITCH reads like a how-to guide on the basics of devaluing female personhood and agency.

So if you like it when Brian and Chris talk about media theory, hegemony, representation, and how frustrating it can be when pop culture reinforces a system of control, this is the episode for you!
