That's My Story

I’m Laura. I’m sure many of you dread getting stuck in an elevator. How about getting stuck in an elevator for 7 hours with your worst enemy? Sounds terrible right? Unfortunately, that’s what happened to me. My parents got divorced when I was very small. I’m more like my dad so I can’t say that my mom and I get along very well. We managed fine for a while. But things have gotten a lot worse recently. One day, my mom and I had a huge fight. When that happens, I usually go and stay with my dad. I packed a few things, shut the door, and left.   We live in a 16-storey building with 2 elevators.

I didn’t have any allergies until I was 16. But last year, I developed an illness called “cold urticaria”, or cold allergy. When I say cold, I don’t just mean cold weather during winter. I’m allergic to all types of cold, including ice cream. I even have to sleep while wearing socks on hot summer nights. I’m pretty sure you’ll be shocked to hear of all the things I’ve been through.

I know all kids love their mothers but I realy loved mine. She deserved all the love in the world and more. It was bewildering how kind she was. I believe she was sent to this world to show others how to be a good person. When she completed her mission, God called her back. She had cancer, but I didn’t know it for a long time. My parents hid it from me. I thought she had been visiting my grandmother for a while. But she was in the hospital. ne day, my dad picked me up from school and took me there. I was shocked to see my mom in bed. She looked so sick, and yet she was still smiling. But she had a hard time speaking. I had to lean in very close to hear her. “Naomi, my sweet girl. Unfortunately, I won’t be around much longer. But I’ll keep loving you, always remember that. I asked your dad to find someone else to marry because you’re still so young. You need a loving family to grow up in. Please love your new mother. Be a happy family. That’s how I’ll be at peace. It’s all I’m asking of you.” This is how my mom said goodbye to me.

I’m Justin. I’m 16 years old. The sun is my number one enemy. You know why? Because I’m allergic to it. I spend my life running away from sunlight. I have the most rare and dangerous type of sun allergy. I can only go outside at night. That’s why I called myself “the son of darkness”  My immune system reacts to the ultra violet rays emitted by the sun. Like all allergies, it can range from mild to severe. Like I said at the beginning, mine is the worst kind. I’m not supposed to be exposed to sunlight for even a minute. My whole life changed in an instant. I was now stuck at home all day with blackout curtains covering the windows. I could only go outside after the sun went down.

I became a millionaire when I was still in high school.  And I made all that money myself.  I made a decision. I worked really hard and was able to reach my goal. But I ultimately ended up losing all the money I made. It all happened within a year and a half. How did I manage to get rich so quickly and then lose it all just as fast? You’ll find out when you hear my story.

George and I met at a party.  We were sitting next to each other on a couch, but we were both on our phones. I laughed at something I saw on Tiktok.  When I looked up, we locked eyes. He was looking at me, smiling. “It’s been at least 3 years since I laughed like this” he said. We talked through the whole party. Later that night we spoke on the phone. We met again the following day. We went to a Chinese restaurant for dinner and decided to start dating.  There were reasons why it all went so quickly. We were both upset with our families for not paying attention to us. We were both lonely.  We both got depressed often. We both wanted to pack our stuff and leave. And neither of us had been in a relationship in a long time. We quickly filled each other’s lives.  We were either spending time together, talking on the phone or texting each other.

I’m Harper. I’m pretty sure you’ll find this story hard to believe. If I heard it, I probably wouldn’t believe it either. But I know that it’s true because it happened to me. My mom had a difficult time when she was pregnant with me. She had to stay in bed for 7 months because of the risk of miscarriage. As a result, she refused to have another baby even though my dad wanted to. After I was born, they both used all their time and energy taking care of me. They organized their life around me. I’m not complaining about it because I had a great childhood and adolescence, but I wish they had some other interests too. Two and a half years ago, I moved to another city to go to university. After I left, there was a huge hole in my parents’ lives.

I’m Molly. Something terrible happened to me last year because of my best friend Julie. It sounds crazy but I was stuck at the bottom of the sea for 36 hours. Yes, at the bottom of the sea! Under water! For 36 hours. Which is more than a day! You’ll see that I’m not making it up when you hear my whole story. It all started when Julie showed me a photo.

I’m Fiona. My parents disowned me because of my YouTube channel. They said, “You’re no longer our daughter so you can’t live in our house.” They basically kicked me out! How did it come to this? What did I do to make them so upset? I’ll tell you the whole story.
