  • Secret Empire Special: Episode 5
We're pretty much at the halfway point of this Event, and if you can't tell - fatigue is starting to set in. Throw into the mix the fact that Matt and Wes aren't feeling great, along with a total of 7 comics where nothing that earth shattering happens and you get an episode that is less than energetic. So...sorry about that. Miles to go before we sleep though, and we're still excited to bring you all that sweet Secret Empirey goodness! In this just-over-an-hour-long episode, we cover the latest issue of Secret Empire and 6 of its tie-in issues. The full list is as follows and a little warning: we spoil the heck out of 'em: Secret Empire #4 Captain America Sam Wilson #23 Deadpool #32 Secret Warriors #3 Secret Empire: Brave New World #1 Secret Empire United #1 Uncanny Avengers #24 If you want to get involved with the conversation you can reach out to me or Wes on Twitter (@mattlune and @geekwholanded respectively) follow and tweet the show (@thatstheissue) or email the show at [email protected].

  • Mossy #1, Animal Man #26 and Grant Morrison Feat. Kieran Shiach
Out to prove we're not just a Secret Empire dedicated podcast, That's The Issue is back doing what it does best: Getting to know you through the issues that you love! This week we're joined by prolific podcaster, comics journalist and now comics creator Kieran Shiach to talk about his brand new Kickstarter Mossy #1 with artist Traci Shepard! We also discuss a favorite issue of his, Animal Man #26, written by Grant Morrison and illustrated by Chas Truog. From there we tangent in many, many directions, including the meta-narrative that runs through all of Morrison's DC work; Kieran's love of The Flash; which X-Men powers we all wish we had; the perils of owning a house rabbit; and much more... Kieran and Traci's Kickstarter is funded, but still has stretch goals! • Summer Special 2016!
Summertime in comics means Events - love 'em or hate 'em, they're here to stay. Me and Wes discuss the first comic book Events we were ever exposed to and why we loved them. We also talk about Event books as a whole: how they began; what they contribute to the comic book landscape; what works and what doesn't, and why they're important even if they may sometimes lack quality. As usual we also review some of the latest issues to hit the stands: Amazing Spider-Man #16 and Darth Vader #24 from Marvel; Animosity #1 from Aftershock Comics and the biggest book out this week - All Star Batman #1! Featured Image is by artist Brendan Tobin-http://brendantobin.blogspot.co.uk, taken from the CSBG blog post The Line it is Drawn #145 – How Do Superheroes Spend Their Summer Vacation? over at Comic Book Resources.

  • We Can Never Go Home Feat. Nikki Sherman
This episode we're joined by official friend of the show Nikki Sherman; colorist, artist, writer, and contributor for Comicosity.com! Our conversation is cut woefully short due to technical difficulties, however for the time we do have we talk about such things as Pokemon Go, Jeff Lemire's immense talent, and the professionalism of comics podcasts (specifically our own!). We also review some comics: Black Hammer #1, Weird Detective #2 and Plutona #1-5! Then before we get cut off we talk about Nikki's comic of choice- Black Mask's We Can Never Go Home, by Matthew Rosenberg, Patrick Kindlon, Josh Hood and Brian Level!

  • Hawkeye #2 Feat. El Anderson
This time we’re joined by El Anderson, AKA @FemmesInFridges on Twitter. Assistant comics editor, Kieron Gillen fangirl and the Twitter voice of reason in a world of Comics Internet insanity, El joins us for a fascinating, rambling chat full of tangents, including but not limited to DC Rebirth, what it is to be a fan and creator in Comics Twitter right now, and the inevitable discussion about the current state of world politics. We (eventually) get around to discussing El’s chosen issue – Matt Fraction, David Aja and Matt Hollingsworth’s fantastic Hawkeye #2. An amazing series and a standout issue, it’s a lot of fun to talk about. Plus, we get to know a little bit more about El along the way!
