We’re keeping the international vibes going this week with “The Grunge Blues” by UK-based, four-piece, post-grunge band, Yopo. This one was right up my alley, being the 90’s grunge girl that I am. Took me a while, but I finally have a Canadian artist on the show! Hailing from Vancouver, BC by way of Stettler, Alberta, it’s Aaron Hillside’s “Uneasy Pace” off his 2022 album, Homestead. It’s a beautifully written country tune that still connects even if you’re not the biggest country fan.

Hailing from Long Beach, California, Rome Apart brings a combination of fast-paced rock and moody soundscapes on their 2021 album, 13.33. It was difficult choosing just one song, but after much deliberation, I went with the opener, “Hazy Dream”. Hope you dig it as much as I do.

I met Daniel, the vocalist and guitarist of Robaflor, at an open mic at Re/Arte in Boyle Heights. He performed a couple songs on his acoustic guitar, and after some Internet sleuthing I found his band on Spotify. They only have a couple of songs up, I’m featuring my favorite of the two, “Vagabundo”.
