This week I’m featuring “God’s a Skeeball Fanatic” off Sorta Kinda’s 2023 album Dogooder. It’s a great album to drive to, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Fun fact, the title comes from a late 90’s classic film, giving it that extra layer of geekyness I love. Give them a listen.

I met James of The Automatic Knives when we were both featured on Writers Round Fullerton. I love his grungey, gritty voice. The song I’m featuring, “Long Way Down”, is a soulful, rock n’ roll earworm. It’s also an interesting piece of L.A. history.

I came across Motelimbo thanks to Orange Peel, a publication for concertgoers, playlist connoisseurs, and music lovers. Something was intriguing about them right off the bat, they reminded me of so many great bands from my younger days. I went with “Tiki Bar Angel” for its awesome harmonica. Check them out!

I try to check out every artist Greg features on Writers Round – Fullerton, that’s how I came across Migstape. His music is mellow, with very relatable lyrics, sprinkled with beautifully diverse instrumentation. It reminded me of one of my favorites, Peter Su, featured in episode nine. I went with “Pizza Love” for this episode, be sure to check out all his tunes.

I came across The Oddity because they recently went on a mini Southern California tour with The Dancing Skeletons. I checked out their 2022 album Odd Man Out, and had difficulty choosing a song to feature because there are so many great ones. I went with “feelin'” because I related to the lyrics.
