I have been rather sick all week, and I am in no condition to be recording. My apologies. Please excuse my lack of a new episode this week, and please enjoy what was previously recorded as Episode #17 The Simple Gospel. Thank you, and please pray for me.
Why are epistles so difficult to understand? What can we take from them? How are we to approach them when reading? Can they make us more effective Christians? I will discuss these topics in this episode as we study Paul's letter to Philemon.
How important is a knowledge of the contents of the Bible to the Christian? Why is the Bible important? Why should the Christian read the Bible? Can a new Christian read and understand the Bible? I will discuss these questions in this episode.
What kind of a world was Jesus born into? What were the circumstances? I'll say this. They were both strange, and perfect. How ideal were they for Mary and Joseph? How ideal were they for the world? What does that mean for us?
What does it mean when Jesus says regarding money, "No one can serve two masters"? Was he speaking of greed? What exactly is greed? How much money is too much? Is it a sin to be "rich"? I will discuss that in this episode.
What does peace with God entail? What are the requirements to living at peace with God? Peace with God implies a return to God's original design for humankind. I will discuss that in this episode, as well as each of us, as individuals.
Why is it necessary to confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord. The book of James explains that our tongues set the direction for our lives. Why is it important to believe that Christ was raised from the dead? How are we to believe it? I will discuss these topics in this episode.
We are imperfect and fallen men and women, and Jesus died for us. But who exactly was Jesus, and what was his nature? I will discuss that in this episode.
In my second installment of this "series" of episodes on the five pillars of the gospel of Jesus Christ, I will talk about the second pillar, Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God." I use the illustration of David's short comings to explain this important principle. But when we sin, what are we to do? What should be our heart posture towards God? How does God feel about us when we sin?
Throughout the next five weeks, I will discuss what is known as "The Five Pillars of the Gospel." The first pillar Genesis 1:1, which says, "In the beginning, God created heaven, and the earth." Why is belief in the creation essential to the follower of Jesus? I will discuss that in this episode.
