The 2nd Type of God-Given Rest: Sensory Rest

Listen Later

I want you to come to the beach with me.

The beach is my favorite place, and we’re going to visualize it together at the beginning of this episode to get a little sensory rest.

I'm back with another episode in our series on rest, and we’re moving on to the second type of rest: sensory.

There was a time when life moved slower and we could enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells of living. Now, life moves so fast it’s a blur of those sights, sounds, and smells everywhere we turn. Excessive exposure to nonstop sensory information leaves us exhausted and leads to us taking our senses for granted. We tune out our senses in our overly-busy days. If you can learn to rest from a sensory perspective, you’ll be able to enjoy your senses again instead of being overwhelmed by them.

If you’ve noticed you have an increased sensitivity to touch and sound, you crave more processed foods, your eyes feel strained, or you struggle to enjoy events like concerts or firework displays, this episode is for you.
