Walking away tonight after doing this podcast, I couldn't help but notice the parallels to the Kankakee County Housing Authority, where politics, egos, control, deception, and greed overshadow the real issue: the children, who have unfortunately been sidelined in the process. 

The responsibility for the children does not rest on a single individual; rather, it is a collective failure involving multiple parties as explained to 815. 

In Episode 5 we have a guest host on to discuss re entry into society for convicted felons. Rob and Jackie were awesome and we can't wait to do future shows with them!

Wow, episode #4 is in the books! It was a late night getting home after recording and meeting with someone but completely worth it. I learned so much from our guests, and I'm grateful for the trust they placed in us with the information they shared. There were some real sad moments last night with plenty of tears, but Justin and I knew launching this podcast would mean hearing some tough truths.
We have thick skin and can handle it, but the depth of this issue is truly staggering. We'll choose our battles wisely, and our team digs deep to uncover what you, our listeners, want to know.
Huge thanks to Hunter's mom for sharing her experience and story about her son. We also want to express our gratitude to the amazing Will County Coroner, Laurie Summers, for joining us. Both Laurie and Hunter's mom have graciously agreed to return for future episodes.
I understand some listeners had mixed feelings about having the Coroner on the show. Let me assure you, Laurie Summers is the only elected official who has dedicated countless hours to working with me on mental health initiatives. When I say countless, I mean it! Dan Jungles, the Will County Sheriff, isn't an elected official, but he's also been incredibly supportive and responsive in our discussions on this crisis. Laurie and Dan are a true power couple, and I'm so appreciative of their willingness to always answer my calls and emails.
Just a reminder, my focus is mental health, not politics. Politics drive me crazy! Most politicians seem more interested in grandstanding than actually helping people.

Last night, we finally managed to align our schedules with our first guest and record our podcast. I commend Kris Martin for bravely sharing his story, despite ongoing legal proceedings. Kris and I recorded an audio podcast together last winter when the horrible situation had just occurred, but we held off releasing it due to legal reasons. I am happy to announce that Kris won his lawsuit with flying colors, and he deserves every cent he received for the mental and physical harassment he endured.

When you listen to this podcast, I hope you take away one crucial lesson: take the time to ask questions before making assumptions. More often than not, there are sides to a story that you are unaware of. If people had done this before the situation escalated, they would have seen Kris as he truly is, rather than the monster he was portrayed to be. We were limited in what we could discuss due to other pending lawsuits, but we hope this episode sheds some light on the truth
