Sean McGuinness does not follow your typical idea of what an "artist" is. His work is centered around a familiarly menacing fixture in pop culture: Godzilla. And while his visual creations are an irreverent mix of cinema pulp, offbeat humor, sci-fi fandom, and steely-eyed nuclear paranoia, there's nonetheless a consistent vision and method to his Kaiju-centric creation. So on this episode, we're talking all about Godzilla;  The monster, the movies, and the ultimately dark and sobering context behind the big guy's origin and artistic legacy.

Musical artist Maiah Manser joins the Abstract to discuss her recent EP "Second Skin," and it's highly symbolic themes of identity, personal rebirth, and the struggle to separate truth from illusion in one's past memories. We also dive into the production techniques and the collaborative studio experience that led to the record's creation.

A strong voice in more ways than one, Maiah is outspoken about the importance of standing up for oneself as a female artist, and being unafraid to provoke discomfort in listeners with artistic statements that seek to uproot sexism in society.
