Brittany Kinney is not only one of my good friends from College and Graduate school, but owner of her business The Faux Bouquets, a dedicated wife and amazing mother of a precious 20 month old girl. When her daughter was just 7 weeks old, Brittany was suddenly diagnosed with Stage IV Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Cancer. Since her diagnosis, she’s had a surgery that was able to remove 90% of her tumors and is still undergoing treatments that have shown to be gradually shrinking her remaining tumor. Brittany is the most beautiful example of how an abundant spirit can help you move through your fears, surmount the odds and perpetuate a life that is full and worth living. Alas we are back! So many of you messaged that you couldn’t wait for our Abundant Motherhood segment to return and finally we are here! This episode covers so many DRASTIC changes that have occurred for Jordan and I since we were last on together on the podcast. We dig deep into what it was like for Jordan living in California with no family when the pandemic and intense lock down happened, what it was like for her dealing with this while her husband was in post-graduate school, having a newborn and so much more! We also cover my experience here in Tennessee during the pandemic, getting very sick with covid myself while being pregnant with my second child, as well as Jordan and I discussed life as parents trying to manage how the pandemic effected our children and their experience of the world and friendships. Lastly, I spill the tea on my pregnancy experience with my second child, my birth story and we close with how our perspectives of abundance within our families and relationships have changed since Covid 19. Erica Van Slyke is a wife of 13 years, mother of 2 boys and full time Blogger and Podcast Host. She’s been featured in top publications such as Domino Magazine, The Today Show, HGTV, Better Homes and Gardens Magazine, The Pioneer Woman and more. This wasn’t always her reality though. Erica struggled with mental health issues since she was merely 8 years old and by the time she turned 21, she overdosed on prescription sleeping pills and was forced to go to rehab. After detoxing from sleeping pills and anxiety medication, she graduated college with a Marketing degree and specialized in SEO and Digital Marketing. She had a good 9-5 job, but ultimately felt something was missing. By age 29 and after having her second child, she woke up overnight and felt drawn back into depression and hopelessness. She didn’t want to get back to the point of a mental breakdown where she’d been before, so she got creative and thought of a healthy coping mechanism for her depression. She and her husband had sold their home and bought an abandoned 80’s fixer upper and so she decided to use her skillsets of online marketing and passion for home design to start a DIY blog. 8 years later, she is making more money than she ever thought possible as a Blogger and living the life of freedom, flow and abundance she always hoped for.
