Today's episode is a bit bittersweet because it's the last one before I take a maternity break from recording.
On one hand, I am really going to miss sharing my content and introducing you to some incredible people from around the world. But on the other hand, I am so excited to focus on my new baby for the next few weeks or months.
Because it's the last episode before my break, I wanted to leave you with something to think about and also take action on.
I want you to reflect on whether your accent is your superpower. Have you thought about that? Is your accent holding you back, or is it something that's propelling you into multilingual success?

Have you ever watched Indiana Jones? When I think of that movie I think about adventure, awesome hats and fascinating ancient history.
Well, my guest on today's show Laura Grier @lauragriertravel, is known as the “Indiana Jones of Adventure Travel Photography”. She was named on Discovery Channel UK’s “20 Richest People in the World List”; people who are rich in life experiences. Living overseas and working for the CIA by age 18, she began what would become a lifelong wanderlust. As a photojournalist for the past 20 years, she has photographed weddings and travel on all 7 continents making a career out of exploring and documenting the world. She's passionate about storytelling, mentoring, women’s education and empowerment, photography and travel.
Laura leads workshops, expeditions, and has recently launched Andeana Hats, her passion project with National Geographic working with Quechua Artisans in Peru.
On today's show Laura opens up about what it was like growing up with her parents working for the CIA and later working for them herself, why she was dubbed the Indians Jones of the adventure travel photography, how her company supports the native Peruvian tribes, how to create a sustainable fashion brand and how to create your dream job with purpose.
I really loved my chat with Laura and learned a great deal from it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

Photography seems risky and I think it takes a special kind of talent to run a successful photography business. Not only do you have to be talented, you also need to be a boss and a networking superstar. Ksenia Pro, @kseniaprophoto, my guest on today's episode of the Accented World podcast, embodies all of these qualities and so much more!
I loved chatting with Ksenia because her story and childhood reminded me so much of my life in Poland. We both grew up in small towns in Eastern Europe, which shaped us culturally and socially in a very unique way, not necessarily preparing us for the life in the US.
Luckily we both adapted pretty quickly and were able to use our background to our advantage.
On the show today, Ksenia shares how can you invest time in yourself and grow while waiting for legal status, why she started a business instead of getting a job, her advice for future photographers, and how you can grow your confidence while speaking English.

Bhavana Jain, a successful fashion designer and boutique owner of the BHAV boutique in Chicago, comes from a long line of healthcare workers.
She has been a clinical pharmacist for 15 years, but a few years into her career noticed that something was missing. She had felt the entrepreneurial spark and since she always loved arts, she decided to go back to school for fashion design. Following her intuition, she started a fashion line that now incorporates her own South Asian heritage into the design aesthetic.
Bhavana is on the show today to discuss her transition, going from burnout in a successful career in the medical field to following her passion and becoming an entrepreneur, her advice for future entrepreneurs making a career switch, how to start a fashion line and why you shouldn't ignore your passion.

Today's episode happens to fall on my birthday :).
I am starting my 34th year around the sun and am sharing my 4 biggest struggles as an entrepreneur.
This year I've spent a lot of time reflecting and slowing down, mostly because of being pregnant with my first baby.
I feel very blessed to have had this season in my life and time to reevaluate my priorities moving forward.
I also reflected on my entrepreneurial career and came up with a list of my 4 biggest struggles as an entrepreneur. I'm still fairly new to the game and struggle in some areas more than others. I wanted to share these, because I know I am not alone.
Entrepreneurship is hard and can feel very lonely. Especially in the era of social media where a lot of what people post is beautifully curated to make it appear as almost perfect.
Well, I know everyone struggles and I think sharing these struggles is an important part of helping other business owners not to feel like a failure or feel alone.

I love to geek out on all things speech and voice-related given my background as a speech pathologist. So when Cynthia Zhai, who is a voice coach and a professional speaker reached out to come on the show, I was very excited!
Voice education is very important, especially when it comes to using it to be more impactful and confident. As entrepreneurs, we are constantly communicating with our audiences. Whether it's through marketing, social media posts, going live or connecting on Zoom, we are always sharing messages with our audience. Using the right tone of voice can also convey messaging and it's important to use it with confidence in order to engage our audience.
As a TEDx speaker herself, Cynthia came on the show and shared her own journey of how she became a more assertive and confident speaker, where a good voice comes from, the relationship of
voice and breathing, the fastest way to engage your audience, and much more.
Cynthia has helped professionals from 46 countries across 6 continents to speak with a powerful voice. She has been a professional speaker and coach for the past 18 years and her engagement spans 5 continents in 18 countries. Naturally, she was the perfect guest for the Accented World Podcast.

Productivity is something I've struggled with for years. I used to be that college student, cramming for her exams the night before the big test. I used to put off anything that required extra brainpower and time until the last minute, causing me lots of anxiety and underperformance.
It's hard to be productive all the time, but it's a skill that comes in very handy especially when running your own business or working in a demanding and promising career.
Need help with your productivity? Then tune in to today's episode of the Accented World Podcast!
My guest on today's show, Sabrina Runbeck, is the so-called Queen of Performance and Productivity.
After overcoming burnout and feeling stuck in a career that drained her, she became an international peak performance speaker empowering young professionals to find their voice and overcome the stress of their personal and professional expectations.
This allows them to reconnect with their passion, contribute positively to their organizations, and become influential in their fields without feeling overwhelmed, underappreciated, or undervalued, all the while staying happy and motivated.
On the show, she shares her 6 step system to improve your productivity and quality of life which is absolutely brilliant, how our minds go beyond what we can physically do, how to gain 8 hours of free time per week and what to do with that extra time, how not to turn your passion into poison and much more.

As I am now in my 34th week of pregnancy (craziness!), I've been reflecting on some of the biggest and most surprising lessons I've learned thus far.
Everyone's pregnancy journey is different and unique so these have been my experiences. I wanted to share them to see if anyone else has gone through something similar, or perhaps to help someone else reflect on their own pregnancy journey. It's also fun to share these with you, even if you're not a mom-to-be or a mom already, because some of these thoughts may surprise you or teach you something new.
I was completely clueless going into this pregnancy, and have treated every moment and lesson as a gift, expanding my mind, heart, and soul.
As I am nearing the resolution aka the birth, the big event, I am getting nervous, but nonetheless excited to meet my boy and step into the mom's shoes, which I am ecstatic to fill.
What lessons have you learned in your pregnancy?
What are your thoughts on what I have learned so far?

Financial education is a hot topic right now and for a good reason. More and more women and entrepreneurs are starting to get their financial education in order to not only build wealth but to also smartly manage their assets.
It's a shame that money management is not taught in most schools because it's such a crucial skill in our lives. The good thing is though, that more and more people, such as my guest on today's show, Mr. Rocky Lalvani, are providing financial education and advice to business owners.
After all, if your business is profitable but you do not know how to manage these profits, you will most likely make unwise decisions that will affect your life and business.
Rocky came on the show to discuss the principles of compounding, how to live a rich life on a poverty budget, the negative stigma, and beliefs around money, how to unblock your negative beliefs, how to start your financial education, and how to make your business profitable.
I learned so much from this conversation and I hope you will as well!
Let me know in the comments if you have anything to add or ask any questions. Enjoy the show :)
