Today's episode is super timely for me and I didn't even plan it this way :). I wish I had, but I am not that savvy. Of course, I am referring to my awesome conversation with Viktoriya Yurkovetskiy, a lactation consultant and founder of Corporate Breastfeeding Support. 

As a future first-time mom, full-time worker, and entrepreneur, I found Viktoriya's advice and story so relevant. Life changes when you become a mama and start to breastfeed. Not only is the physical aspect of it often difficult, also the emotional and social aspect makes it sometimes impossible to do without hurdles. It's not easy breastfeeding in public and pumping locations are not always readily available. 

On today's show, Viktoriya provided some great tips on how to support struggling breastfeeding mamas, she discusses how to plan for when you go back to work, she tells her story on how she started her company and dives into her struggles as an immigrant and how she got over the fear for being judged for her accent to scale her business. I am a true believer that each one of us needs to do some kind of inner work in order to reprogram our negative self-beliefs and start to love ourselves for who we are. 

It takes patience and a lot of hard work, but the results of that transformation are absolutely worth it. When it comes to speaking authentically and finding your voice as an entrepreneur, inner work will also need to be done.

My guest on today's show, Mrs. Jane Paterson is a professional public speaking coach who believes that when women develop their overall speaking skills, they are empowered to speak up, grow their careers, bring about change, and inspire others.

She shares that women are more afraid to speak up than men, that men would interrupt a female speaker 10 times more than they would ever interrupt a male speaker, and the difference between the speaking styles of men and women. 

This conversation was very inspiring to me because as a woman in podcasting and a speech-language pathologist I get to witness these dynamics quite often. It is important to spread awareness about this, to empower more women to speak up and take back the mic.

Being multilingual comes with great perks, but it can also make you feel less than.  

 I've always struggled with speaking multiple languages because I didn't feel like I fit in anywhere. After some time in the US, I no longer spoke perfect Polish, and I never learned to speak perfect English.   

Thankfully, with life experience and working on my insecurities I realized, what a blessing it is to be multilingual. This is why I recorded today's episode of the Accented World Podcast, where I discussed the five benefits of being a multilingual entrepreneur.

Angelica Alan is a wellness and lifestyle coach, who left Brazil at the age of 21 with only 1000 Euros in her pocket. She has since lived all over the world, eventually settling down in Australia with her husband and kids.

My dog has been my greatest teacher. Not only has she taught me to be patient and present she has also shown me what it means to be authentic. She never falters from her true feelings and her personality always comes out according to who she is. 

I really think dogs are incredible teachers to show us the way to authenticity. 

Being authentic in a foreign language is challenging. Not only may you not feel as comfortable in your new environment if you've moved but also you need to express yourself in a completely different language. That can really affect your personality. So how can we do this, if we want to be authentic in our lives and in our business while speaking English?
