In Episode 6, Ben and Joella are taking you across the Pacific and onto one of the most beautiful — and treacherous — trails in the world. Yep, they’re chatting all about their 5 day adventure on the Kalalau Trail in Kauai. And this experience has become all the more meaningful, because in the month of April, Kauai received record-breaking rainfalls. Waipa, in northern Kauai, received 49.69 inches of rainfall in just 24 hours, which shattered the US’s record for rainfall in a 24 hour period. The water deluge washed out roads, caused massive mud-slides, polluted the water tap, and closed the Kalalau Trail indefinitely. Many residents, particularly those on the north side of the island, are still displaced. If you feel compelled to help, donations can be made to the Red Cross at the url below.
