I had no idea that I'd end up boarding our horses with one of the greatest horse whisperers of all time this summer in Colorado. He turned out to be a friend of a friend of a friend, and was described to me as more of a horse person than a people person. Real horse people usually understand this about one another and get along anyways, which we did.

A few things of note about this amazing interview: Johnny had the honor of blessing our horse trailer with our very first interview EVER inside the dream horse trailer itself! This was a very special moment for us, as the audio went great with all the soft walls. Our trailer had been parked at Green Mesa Ranch for over a week at that point, and I had been joking with Johnny about wanting to do an interview the whole time, but it was not until this moment that it actually transpired, and it was awesome. 

Prior to our interview, he gave me a portfolio of magazine articles, and newspaper clippings about his work over the past few decades, so I knew I was in for a treat if he'd let me record our conversation. Johnny Leverett is also just an all around stand up character, to know him is to laugh with him, and there is a lightness in the air when he works. It was truly an honor.

The other thing about this connection is that he worked with my horse Jet. Honestly, I have not had anyone work with Jet in many, many years, doing most of the work myself, but to have a professional with so much experience work with and fall in love with my horse was very special. It was amazing to see someone else's approach to the same problem I had been dealing with for years in a new way. Through this journey, we reached a solution that i had not been able to find in nearly fourteen years together.

Welcome to a new episode of The Adventure Paradox where I'm taking you on my journey through the bustling streets of New York City.  I spoke at the Global Thought Leader's Conference on emotional intelligence and leadership with animals. During my time in the Big Apple, I had the opportunity to delve into some profound topics. I emphasized the importance of instilling values like reality, truth, and goodness in our children, and how this can shape future leaders by looking at ourselves and to the animals.

Throughout the episode, we circle back to the theme of trusting the process, recognizing the significance of acknowledging grief and trauma, and the often underestimated importance of a good night's sleep. The excitement continued after the conference itself, an  ABC TV interview, and gaining valuable insights. Still having some energy, I bought a VIP ticket to hear Trent Shelton's speak to a private audience by a Brooklyn bridge for a memorable sunset hangout in the city. The best part? I had the chance to meet and greet with the inspirational Trent Shelton, a true highlight of the trip, and another guest elevated me to MAX VIP status so we could all go out to dinner! Do you follow through on what you say you will do most of the time? How often do you say you'll do something and it doesn't work out that way? When you make a mistake or things don't go your way, how do you repair?

In this episode, I walk my listeners through my own process of owning the habit of consistently biting off more than I could chew, and how I have learned to commit to less and be present to the season that I am in, especially when it is a season of massive growth and changes. Young mothers or new animal owners are in massive growth states, and I love helping women through this journey to find themselves, as I did in the writing of my book.

Stay at home moms with children under the age of 5 are statistically the most depressed.  Animals are one of the greatest antidotes to depression, as are the four questions of the shaman - these are in my book, coming out this Thursday, August 31st, and you will also find me rapping about this on social media. Sometimes we have to embrace who we are through a journey or adventure...

In this way, we heal. The universe will meet us along the way to become the person we were meant to be. Trust the process. Study. Dance. Pray.  Show up and commit.  Follow through! It will not always happen in your time or in your way. All is going as it should be, and your changes need not always be rejected - sometimes they come through even better the next time through. Believe. Stay Present to the Changes and just BE the person that you say you are.

At the end of summer, many moms I know are resonating with the feeling that we need to get back to routine, to having more support with our children, and more time to ourselves.  We become another person when our childcare responsibilities are 100% ours in the dog days of summer, but the truth is, even during the school year, they are always ALL ours, even when we share the load with schools, babysitters and helpers. How we take on that role, with or without the essence of martyrdom is unique to each of us, and we all falter in our shifting identities, just like the seasons flicker between rain and sun at this time of year.
