Welcome to our latest episode where we have a special guest, Kinder Fayssoux, a functional family medicine physician and life coach who loves to work with women who want to understand why weight loss after their 40s is so hard.

In this episode, we'll be diving deep into the world of tele-health and how doctors are moving toward the virtual space to provide better care for their patients. Kinder shares her experience of being a doctor as well as a real estate business owner, and how her background gives her a unique perspective on healthcare. We also talk about the challenges of motherhood and how it can impact a woman's health. We dive into the importance of taking care of yourself as a mother and the impact it has on your family.

We discuss tele-health and how it's changing the landscape of healthcare. With the rise of virtual doctor visits, patients have access to healthcare from the comfort of their own homes. Overall, this interview is an insightful discussion of motherhood, women's medicine, and tele-health. 

Kinder is also the friend who helped me recognize what I am going for in titling our podcast "Horses, Mountains & Dogs" as we identified them as my "big three," and thereby they have become a reflection for others to find what their big three are.  When it comes to health, there are many things that all of us need, but some of us are also born with certain gifts (long legs for playing basketball, for example, or cultural blessings based on where we come from geographically), or desires (to play a sport our body may not be built for, or embrace a culture that we prefer, let's say). It takes work to differentiate between what we have, what we want, and what we need.

In the pandemic, every single one of us had an opportunity to filter this question, regardless of our circumstances. It was humbling, sometimes scary and sometimes liberating all at once as we all worked through the facts of our lives. Those facts very quickly bump up on our BS, aka "Belief Systems."

In part two of this two part episode, I go deeper with Lynn Thomas, Ulla Frederiksen and her husband, Fred Bueltmann, to understand some of their most miraculous experiences working with horses themselves, and witnessing the transformations of the groups and clients they have connected to horses.  (If you have not heard their individual introductions, I encourage you to go back to part one, which dropped yesterday to hear more about each of them, or read their bios in the show notes).  

With Lynn’s experience, vision, and passion for the impact horses have on well-being, in 2021 she co-founded Horses for Mental Health (HMH) as a non-profit advocacy organization to increase awareness, public engagement, funds and access to programs incorporating horses for mental health and personal growth.  Through the annual Seen Through Horses campaign, started in 2022, HMH convenes philanthropists, ambassadors, companies, governments, and programs to work in collaboration expanding the role horses play in mental health and realize our collective vision of a world where all mental health needs are met – together.

Since the first time I came to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, I was filled with the deep and resounding energy of a capital Yes.  When I lived here for a decade, that YES got stronger, and I used to joke with my friends: "We LIVE here??"  To this day, that feeling has not changed - just like my ABSOLUTELY YES love for my partner.

In this episode, I do a deep dive in to some unusual stories that could have turned out differently had we not been in a yes state, and also share interesting insights in to the "energy of yes" from a German artist.  To translate and better understand the "precarious" nature of his work, I brought a German friend in, who is also a stylist, and has supported me in getting my wardrobe in to a  YES state.

This is a difficult time of year for many, and if you find yourself in a No state, I challenge you to take one little step each day to get closer to a lower case yes, then a capital Yes, and finally the all caps YES that will become a beacon of light for others.  Each of us must find what lights us up.  If you are still exploring what it is for you, i encourage you to reach out and learn morea bout the program i am offering with horses, art, nature and maybe a few dogs this spring.  You don't have to do it alone!

My conversation with Kim made me feel like a kid again.  It was a beautiful journey to explore the connection between our artistic or creative natures with the reality of working with horses and the help they can offer us spiritually.  Our opening conversation links back to Linda Kohanov's interview (aired in Februar), as the two of them created a beautiful book and horse spirit card deck which I use regularly in my work with clients.

For over three decades, Kim McElroy has been renowned for her visionary equine art. The horse is her muse, ever inspiring her to find new ways to awaken humanity to their healing gifts. Through her incredible mastery of pastels, and her talent in writing about her artistic insights, Kim conveys the power and beauty of the horse’s form... yet more than that, she offers us a timeless glimpse of its soul.

As humans, we have a natural inclination to seek out connection and belonging, and one of the most powerful ways to do this is by connecting to nature. In this episode, we will explore the deep connection between humans and horses and how it influences the way we choose a property for them.  As a horse lover, we know that letting go of our horses is never easy. We want them to live where they can thrive, be happy, and feel at home. And that's why finding the right property for them is so important.

There are lots of ways that we deliver our wants and needs to the universe and to each other - both verbally and non-verbally.  Ultimately, the power always resides in the present moment - what we do today will impact us and all those we touch tomorrow.  We cannot change the past, but if we are still hauling outdated ideas, or bad ones around with us, we need to know when to reach out, how, and why, regardless of where we are.  

In this podcast minisode, I unpack the unexpected possibilities and connections that often magically unfold when we get to the place of needing help and finally asking for it.  As mothers, we often feel incredibly alone in facing our children's woes, protests and tantrums - especially in public, which is ironic: why is it we feel almost more alone when others can see us struggling than when we are disciplining our children in the home?  Perhaps it is because we fell the stakes are higher - there are witnesses judging us, or we judge ourselves for our performance.  Regardless of the reason, it is important to know when we have reached the limit.

The continued conversation with Linda Kohanov does include some EXPLICIT material that you may not want your children to hear.  We were both in tears at the end of this journey as she shared a powerful experience she had with her horse, Noche, and her community in Arizona when it was time for him to pass over - you will not want to miss this teaching.  I was deeply moved by this story & you will be, too.

Infact, I had no idea that we had been talking for well over two hours by the time we got to this amazing moment.  Prior to that, we covered wisdom about my horse, Jet, being an "immature dominant" and exactly what that looks like.  We also talked about Tony Robbins, transformational vocabulary and how we see various traits of power play out in both the human and animal realms, as well as continue to expand on Monty Robert's simplified predator/prey interpretation between humans and horses as Linda points out that we are omnivores.  There is so much to learn here!

I've been reading Linda's work since 2017, thanks to my friend Eve Lee who first introduced me when we did a Shamanic journey with my horse, Tiki, while I was pregnant with Dani at Hidden Ranch.  The Way of the Horse book and spirit cards (an interview with the wonderfully amazing artist Kim McElroy is coming soon:) was just the tip of the iceberg on this work I later learned, but in my case it was the beginning.  Linda has written (or co-authored) over 20 books in the field of Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy, according to Goodreads.  You will not want to miss our conversation or any of her work - it will change the way you see the world, horses, and, most importantly, yourself.  At the end of our chat, we pulled a card for deeper meaning...
