In Season 2 Episode 6: Spud and Russet, the crew of Recovery Services take a delivery job which will put them on the Carpian Outpost--just a hop, skip and a jump from the meteor field that used to be Starchian home world--the planet to which Spud is indigenous. Reluctant to even think about the possibilities of dropping into the ruins, both Spud and Nickels are adamantly against the idea. But Em is persistent and talks Spud into it. In Season 2 Episode 5: Tessa and Nicky, the crew members of Recovery Services find themselves at the mercy of being adrift aboard a Ship with no fuel--in scavenger territory. Nickels decides to send out an S.O.S., and though it gets picked up by the perfidious scavengers in the area, it also gets picked up by the Coelophysis, which quickly comes to their aid, although bringing with it some very personal and intimate news. That is, the captain of the vessel is Tessa, Nickels ex-mate, and there's a little girl by her side who bears a striking resemblance to Nickels; and Tessa isn't very happy. In addition, Em and Spud still haven't gotten their first date to sprout. And Ship is still complaining about his current lot, dwelling on the days when he, if anything, traveled in class and was in pristine condition. Everything seems to be heading on a collision course with fate. How will it all play out? How will Nickels react? Will Spud and Em ever even have a moment alone? Will Ship ever get over himself? In Season 2 Episode 4: Valentine's Day, we learn the full scope of Em's plight, specifically what happened to humanity and how and why she ended up being a crew member on board Ship, working for Recovery Services. We also come to understand that the torch that Spud holds for Em can no longer be kept in the dark, so he asks the others how he might confess his love for her. They are quite unsettled by this request, and though they try to laugh it off at first, Spud remains persistent until they cave and lend him a helping hand--so to speak. One of the curiouser developments is that it's Valentine's Day. However, Em isn't in a very good mood per se. She's in her quarters and blowing off steam during one of her rigorous workouts. In Season 2 Episode 2: The Darwin Effect part three, our adventurous trio set out in the remote jungles of the unnatural world to which the mad scientist, simply known as Darwin, has imposed his sinister experiments. Nickels, Spud and the princess--currently a little bird, rat thing--search for their mechanical colleague and vessel, Ship; but the foliage is so thick that they are uncertain where he might be. Therefore, they separate, as Em uses her bat wings to get a bird's eye view of the strange terrain; and it isn't long after, that Nickels and Spud have a brush with the exotic lifeforms that dwell therein. And, this merely touches upon the immediate set of problems that the crew of Recovery Services are about to face! Will they ever find Ship, and will he be intact? Will they escape from this treacherous planet and find a way to restore Em back to her natural form? And, are they safe from the clutches from the maniacal Darwin and his terrible minion? In Season 2 Episode 1: The Darwin Effect part two, Nickels and Spud, along with their pretty colleague, the princess from Earth simply named Em—currently a little bird, rat thing—had the unfortunate lot of encountering the notorious Darwin, a maniacal scientist hellbent on transforming all life to a simplistic state so that he might rule. Luckily for our heroes, Darwin’s machine, the DNA manipulator, seems to have trouble reading and scrambling Nickels’ molecules. Meanwhile, Spud and Em, while locked in the tank, a prison of sorts for Darwin’s test subjects, discuss their predicament and await their fate. And this says nothing about their Ship and the total memory wipe he is undergoing while Prometheus initiates Ship’s factory settings.  Will Nickels and Spud, Em and Ship find a way to overthrow their captor and overturn the unnatural effects he has had on the princess and also put Ship back the way he was? Having concluded our first season of the Adventures of Nickels and Spud, we are taking a small break before launching the second season, which will pick up exactly where the first season finale left off. In the meantime, we offer you this sideline story, which is a sort of parody of what is going on for many around the world right now. Ship is offline in this episode, and this leaves the crew of Recovery Services adrift in space with nothing to do. We hope you enjoy. We'll be back sooner than you can read and make sense of a manual on the components of a refrigeration processor!

In Episode 8: The Darwin Effect part one, the crew of Recovery Services was still suffering the adverse effects of a strange ion field, which had caused Ship to become tyrannical, Em to embrace her inner princess-self, Spud to be slowed down to a near petrified state and Nickels to undergo a kind of second puberty. Because of this, they were not able to think for or help themselves and were making irrational and quite detrimental decisions—the worst, in effect, was programming Ship to crash land on a strange and remote planet and abandoning him just before he did so. Now, Em has been lost in a shallow orbit around that planet, while Nickels and Spud stay on board to try and recover their old pal before it’s too late. And to make matters worse, a strange and menacing vessel approaches and picks up Em. The captain of this spacecraft, so to speak, is seeking to fulfill his own self-appointed destiny. What will this mean to our intrepid foursome, and has all of this been some kind of elaborate trap?! Don’t change the channel, for this nerve-wracking episode of the Adventures of Nickels and Spud is sure to dish out quite the thrill-seeking punch!

In Episode 7: Bonkers, the crew of Recovery Services is returning from a job where they landed a large cargo acquisition, which they have hopes will pay off at the biggest annual intergalactic flea-market in their sector. But as they make their way toward it, Ship unknowingly drifts into a strange ion field, and it has detrimental effects on each and everyone of them. Just like a scene out of Wonderland, they are all subject to a kind of madness that may just spell out ultimate doom for our intrepid foursome—if they can’t find a way to reverse the effects first. But time is not their friend, at least not on this occasion. Can the gang overcome the obstacles presented to them through the maddening influence of this strange part of deep space, or will this be their final mission? Meanwhile, Em’s ex (sort of) boyfriend parades her out in front of the people who were once subjects to her parents’ court. There, he sentences her to execution by dawn.
