Minor Prophets, Major Faith: Micah

Main idea: The people of God are to be a light in a dark place.

The follower of God is expected to walk in the ways of God (6:8).

God’s compassion does not cancel his anger (1:2-3:12; 6:1-16).

God’s wrath does not quench his love (5:7-15; 7:1-20).

To be a light in the darkness, we must reflect the source (5:1-9).

God calls whom he wills (Jonah 1:1-17).

God saves those who rebel against him knowingly (2:1-3:3).

God saves those who rebel against him unknowingly (3:4-10).

Jonah’s disobedience spawned from a lack of love (4:1-11).

Turning to God does not change our circumstances, it changes us (2:12-2:27).

Trials and tribulation will have their end. Our hope is in the Lord (2:28-3:21).

2 Corinthians 11:1-33

Main idea: Christians must be aware of and be able to identify a false gospel.

We must be committed to the Gospel so that we do not stray (11:1-4).

We must know the Gospel so that we are not deceived (11:5-15, 21-22).
• Do not be deceived by lofty credentials (11:21-22).
• Do not be deceived by convincing words and arguments (11:6).
• Do not be deceived by Servants of Satan (11:13-15).

We must anticipate the obstacles of Gospel ministry (11:16-33).

We must show concern for the uprightness of the church (11:28-29).

2 Corinthians 10:1-18

Main idea: Christians receive the authority to preach the Gospel from Jesus Christ.

Our authority is not of this world (10:3-6).

Christ’s authority is accompanied by Christ’s character (10:1-2).

All Christians have the same authority: Christ’s (10:7-11).

The authority given to Christians serves the purpose of making God known (10:12-18).
