JONAH: Repentance
Jonah 3:1-10

Main idea: The Gospel demands repentant response. 


God has ordered us to tell people about his love for them (3:1-3a).


The Gospel is good news to those who will hear it (3:3b-9).


God forgave the people of Nineveh because they repented (3:10).

Main idea: God raises up new life in us. 

God brings faith from faithlessness (2:2). 

God brings growth from suffering (2:3-4).

JONAH: Rebellion
Jonah 1:1-16

Main idea: When we come out of rebellion, lives change. 

We all run from God (Jonah 1:1-8). 

We all must choose to stand for God (Jonah 1:9-11). 

Standing for God doesn’t always lead to safety (Jonah 1:12-13). 

When we stand for God, people see God (Jonah 1:14-16).

Jesus’ Victory
Genesis 3:14-15; Revelation 12:1-18

Main idea: Jesus is at the center of God’s redemptive plan. 

Sin came into God’s perfect creation in the Garden of Eden (Gen. 3:1-13). 

God’s victory over sin was promised (Gen. 3:14-15). 

Jesus’ birth made victory over sin possible (Rev. 12:1-6). 

Jesus’ birth sealed Satan’s defeat (Rev. 12:7-18)

Jesus’ Forerunners
Luke 1:67-80, 3:1-6

Main idea: Jesus is superior to his forerunners. 


The forerunner was born of a miraculous conception (Lk. 1:5-17).
Jesus was born of an immaculate conception (Lk. 1:26-38).


The forerunner provided redemption for his people (Gen. 22:1-19).
Jesus provided redemption for all people (1 Tim. 2:5-6).


The forerunner rescued his people from their enemies (Judges 13-16).
Jesus rescued all people from sin and our enemy, Satan (Colossians 2:15).


The forerunner provided forgiveness of sin to the people (Numbers 21:4-9).
Jesus provided forgiveness of sin to all people (John 3:14-16).
