May 28, 2025Heated Debate on Fox Hunting Ban Left LMFM Listeners Divided Today - 28/05/2025A bill to ban fox hunting was introduced into the Dáil yesterday by Ruth Coppinger. The People Before Profit-Solidarity TD is seeking to amend the Animal Health and Welfare Act 2013, which currently contains an exemption that allows fox hunting. In its current form, the bill would ban fox hunting, as well as trail hunting - in which hounds follow a scent that has been laid for them.Minister for Farm Safety Michael Healy-Rae says that he hopes to see ‘common sense prevail’ and that TDs would reject the Coppinger bill, and he is on the line with us now to talk to us some more about this, and we spoke to him on The Agenda this morning.We also spoke to Aideen Yourell from the Irish Council Against Blood Sport, who disagreed completely with Minister Healy-Ray.
