Just over €65m has been so far paid out under the mother and baby home redress scheme.

However, renewed calls have been made to end the "arbitrary exclusion" from the scheme of people who spent less than six months in a home as well as those who were in institutions not named in the final report.

Leading clinicians in child addiction have voiced alarm that vapes containing a cannabis-like substance are still on sale in Ireland, more than a year after doctors first raised their concerns.

Professor Bobby Smyth, consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist with the HSE addiction services, said HHC — a semi-synthetic cannabinoid with an effect similar to THC in cannabis — is now involved in a quarter of cases involving substance use among adolescents.

Fragments of human remains have been found at a site which is being investigated by the group seeking to locate the bodies of ‘The Disappeared’.

The Independent Commission for the Location of Victims’ Remains (ICLVR) launched a search of a site in Annyalla Graveyard, Co Monaghan last year with the ambition to locate the remains of Joe Lynskey.

This morning on The Agenda we spoke to Ronan Lyons, author of the latest Daft report.

Average asking prices for rents nationally rose by 3.4% between January and March of this year, going above €2,000 for the first time, according to the latest report from property website Daft.

The findings indicate the latest increase is one of the largest in any three months in the last two decades, with average prices reaching €2,053 per month.

We found out about how rent prices are looking in Louth and Meath in particular.

A Fianna Fail TD has said he believes learner drivers should be allowed to drive without being accompanied in the car by a licensed driver. 

Since 2018, it has been an offence for an unlicensed person to drive a vehicle unaccompanied. 

Under the law, gardaí can seize a vehicle if a learner driver is discovered to be driving without a qualified driver present.

This morning on The Agenda we spoke to road safety campaigner Leo Lieghio, whose daughter was killed in a hit-and-run. Leo is disgusted by the comments by Cathal Crowe and believes it would absurd to allow this to go ahead.
