Clann Mór, a dedicated provider of community-based residential and respite services for adults with intellectual disabilities, has written to all eight Meath TDs seeking urgent meetings ahead of the Government’s Budget 2026 process.

This outreach is part of a coordinated effort with the National Federation of Voluntary Service Providers (NFVSP) to highlight the critical funding and policy needs outlined in the Federation’s Pre-Budget Submission.

CEO of Clann Mor, Joe Lynch, joined us on The Agenda this morning to talk to us some more about this.

We also spoke to Aontu rep in Louth & disability rights activist, Michael O'Dowd, who says people with disabilities are"tired of recycled promises".

Nominations for president officially open today and columnist at The Journal, Larry Donelly has a piece today in The Journal titled: “ We are finally in the throes of the race for the Áras. Buckle up!!” 

In his piece, Larry wrote:  

“At long last, after months of speculation, it seems that we have a decent, if not fully complete, idea of who will comprise the field to succeed Michael D Higgins as Uachtarán na hÉireann.

Reading between the lines of the analysis over the summer elicited from the journalists who ply their trade in and around Leinster House gave rise to a feeling as to what they really wanted to say when asked to ruminate on countless scenarios of varying plausibility: “Would they ever just get on with it?!”

It is easier to trace meat in Ireland than it is to trace a missing child - this is the view of the former CEO of the children's charity Barnardos CEO Fergus Finlay. 

As Gardaí continue their search for a missing child in Donabate, questions are being asked about why it took so long for authorities to be alerted. 

The family were known to Tusla but it is understood the child has not been seen for several years; Gardaí have said they are working on the presumption that he is dead.

In addition - Gardaí have also been unable to locate Louth child, Kyran Durnin, who had also not been seen for several years when he was reported missing in the summer of 2024.

Every year thousands of children are reported missing - most of whom are found safe and sound.

Meath County Council will hold a special meeting to consider the nomination of candidates for the upcoming presidential election.

The meeting is set to be held on Monday, September 22. 2025, at 9.30am will be conducted in a hybrid format and is dependent on the issuing of a Presidential Election Order.

At the Meath County Council meeting on Monday, members were briefed on the procedures of nominating a presidential candidate.

To secure a nomination via the council route, a candidate must get the backing of four of Ireland’s 31 local authorities.

Conor McGregor yesterday posted a video on social media outside Government Buildings calling for people to contact their councillors to ask them to support his presidential bid.

To get onto the ballot, Mr McGregor must be either nominated by four local authorities or secure the backing of 20 members of the Oireachtas.

During the video, Conor McGregor quoted the Irish Proclamation of Independence and concluded by blessing himself.

We were joined on The Agenda this morning by CEO of the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre, Rachel Morrogh, who told us about how this is affecting rape and sexual abuse survivors all over Ireland, after Conor McGregor was found liable for sexual assault against Nikita Hand earlier this year.
