Right now (in 2022) we're seeing a huge movement of female and non-binary empowerment in music. They are playing ever instrument, every role, in every genre and they are killing it. In spite of endless attacks on their rights, they continue to forge new paths and keep the good fight going. But in 1993, there was an earlier wave of badass feminist music being made. Between the likes of Alanis Morrisette, The Breeders, Bikini Kill, and Hole, you had women all over the music scene demanding a place at the table. And they got it. One of the great female songwriters of the time was Liz Phair, and her 18 track epic "Exile In Guyville" made her a household name for a long time. Its songs served as a track by track response to The Rolling Stones' "Exile on Main St", but they very much have a sound of their own. If you like anything indie or lo-fi, you're not going to want to miss this one.

Get out your cereal bowls and slide up to the living room television without waking up your parents. After all, it's Saturday morning, they've been working all week, and you KNOW some stuff is about to go down on the Power Rangers. Will they go head to head with Rita and Goldar? Or will they have to deal with Lord Zedd, the skinless lord of evil missing the top part of his skull? Will they morph into colorful heroes and easily defeat mindless goons? Will it all inevitably escalate until the bad guy grows into Kaiju and they're forced to Voltron their Zords together? Well... it's probably most of those things, but you'll have to tune in to find out.

Janis Joplin is a household name when it comes to rock history. She's one of the great vocalists of the 60s, hung out with legends like Jimi Hendrix, and tragically joined the 27 club when she died of an overdose in 1970. Her name is well known, but what about the band she started in? After deciding that she wanted to be a singer and moving to San Francisco, her reputation preceded her and she quickly got in with a great group of musicians called Big Brother and the Holding Company. After just two albums with them Janis Joplin moved on her own things but the band can't be underestimated. They hold their own with any other band of the time.
