The Ale Evangelist Show episodes

  • Changing the Brewing Landscape
On this episode of the Ale Evangelist Show, the guys talk about the very real possibility that everything is about to change. You see, there’s this new product on the market, which….well, which the guys are going to discuss the implication of in GREAT detail.
Is craft beer about to become something none of us recognize? To console themselves, the Scotsman and Drew drink a RimFire Red from Tap-It Brewing Company, and speculate about whether the process of brewing really matters.
Add to that a packed beer calendar, and you have a Ale Evangelist Show Extravaganza!

  • Drake's Hopocalypse & Whitey's Snacks
On this especially tasty episode of the Ale Evangelist Show, Whitey returns...this time with snacks! The Piña Colada Sliders were incredible, and went perfectly with the Drake’s Hopocalypse White and Green Label double IPA’s we were tasting as our show beers.
Whitey’s most excellent recipe for these sliders is given in this show, along with a plug for the Milk Pail shop in Palo Alto (for the coconut gouda necessary for this recipe.
The Scotsman waxes eloquent on hops and how a beer that uses more hops can actually taste less bitter.
So is it the Green or White? What is their verdict? Also the current beer calendar on this episode of the Ale Evangelist Show!

  • The Pale Ale Challenge
On this episode of the Ale Evangelist Show, the Scotsman and Drew recap their wonderful time at the Central Valley Brewfest. They bring up their favorite moments, their favorite beers, and generally gush over what a great experience it was. You owe it to yourself to attend next year. They also put themselves to the test by blind tasting Sierra Nevada Pale Ale up against Deschutes Brewing Company’s Mirror Pond Pale Ale. The Scotsman is on record that he can taste the difference without fail. Can he do it? Finally, it’s definitely beerfest season, so The Scotsman and Drew have a pretty huge beer calendar! You don’t want to miss this episode of the Ale Evangelist Show!

  • Live @ The Central Valley BrewFest
On this very special CV BrewFest edition of the Ale Evangelist show, the guys try brews from High Water Brewing, Amador Brewing, Lost Coast Brewing, Blaker Brewing, and many more amazing breweries live at the 4th Annual Central Valley Brewfest at the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds!
The event was an absolute blast, and the guys really enjoyed the brews assembled, the great people-watching, awesome Lockeford Sausages, and the chance to meet their listeners. From the guy dancing in the Giants shirt (and knocking over his girl’s beer), to the gal who was there to celebrate her 36th birthday, fun was had by all.
The people who ran the festival did a GREAT job, and it’s definitely worth your time next year!

  • Cinco De Mayo!
On this special Cinco De Mayo episode of the Ale Evangelist Show, the guys talk about the history of Cinco De Mayo (both real and imagined).
They try some tasty (if lightly aged) beers from Strike Brewing Company in San Jose. (Many thanks to Jenny Lewis for providing the beers, and much apologies for not getting to them as quickly as we’d hoped!)
The Scotsman also makes a devastating announcement. Can he still be known as The Scotsman. What, truly, does the Scotsman self-identify as?
All this and a PACKED beer calendar, filled with mockery as you have come to expect. (Really Berkeley Humane Society? Picture of a dog licking inside a woman’s mouth??)
All of this on a Cinco De Mayo holiday episode of the Ale Evangelist Show!

  • Stale Beer
Drew is back! Ah, feels like the old show again! On this episode of the Ale Evangelist Show, the Scotsman and Drew discuss and taste stale beer, and some of the results might actually surprise you.
In addition to Stone’s Cali-Belgique and Ruination of various ages, they got to try a Pecan Brown Ale from the Dudes’ Brewing Company.
All of this and a beer calendar which continued until the Scotsman almost had to turn Drew’s mic off. They had a great time, and we think you will too on this episode of the Ale Evangelist Show!

  • Come On Back
The Scotsman and Whitey are featured in this comeback episode where they try to conclusively prove whether or not Whitey can actually tell the difference between Bud, Miller and Coor’s. Can he do it, or will the Scotsman be forced to laugh mercilessly at him?
They talk the end of craft beer, whether it’s worth boycotting macro-owned “crafty” breweries, or whether a beer’s quality should be the sole deciding factor.
Finally, they have a brief beer calendar and a HUGE announcement for the Ale Evangelist Show. They’ve missed doing the show for you all, and you don’t want to miss this comeback show of the Ale Evangelist Show!

  • The Peanut Butter Beer Battle Royale
On this crispety-crunchety-peanut-buttery episode of the Ale Evangelist Show, the Scotsman and Drew go head to head to see who’s right about the best peanut butter beer between Track 7’s Nukin’ Futz and Belching Beaver’s Peanut Butter Milk Stout.
Whoever is right, everyone wins, as these are both great beers.
Add to that a quick discussion on kegerators, and a packed beer calendar, and this triumphant return is well worth a listen.

  • Bad Beer
On this nearly-fatal Ale Evangelist Show, the Scotsman and Drew put their very lives on the line to try and help you, our beloved listeners, spot a bad beer.  They do this with the help of a 3-year-old bottle of bad homebrew. This stuff might have been lethal to begin with, but after 3 years, no matter how good the storage conditions, it’s guaranteed to be cruel and unusual. In fact, it might be banned in several of the 50 states.
Learn how to spot a bad beer and avoid what The Scotsman and Drew put themselves through for you. All this hilarity and a packed beer calendar along with a fantastic show beer from Innis & Gunn brewery in Scotland on this edition of the Ale Evangelist Show.

  • Crony Capitalism
Well, the Scotsman is pissed at ABInBev again. What’s new? This time, the guys are talking about ABInBev’s new incentive program where distributors are given rebates to NOT carry Craft Beer.
They’re not going to stand for this kind of crony capitalism and today the Ale Evangelist Show is a soapbox. The Scotsman outlines why he doesn’t buy ABInBev beers and why he doesn’t think you should either.
The guys also drink Stone Xocoveza and Russian River’s legendary Pliny the Elder on this angry episode of the Ale Evangelist Show.
