Gymtimidation is real.
When it comes to the intimidation factor, it’s not just in the gym where this feeling is prevalent. It can be the entire process of living a fit life.
Studies have revealed that many individuals feel this anxiety at getting in shape, more so of doing it at the gym, because of numerous factors such as exercising near someone who is extremely fit, or exercising in front of the opposite sex, they feel it during their entire workout because they really don’t know where to start or what to do.
But it’s not just the workouts. It turns out that 48% of Americans don’t make healthy food or drink choices while another 45% complain that they find it too difficult to eat healthy.... smfh.
The key to success is and always will be:
C O N S I S T E N C Y.
It is fundamental to get results. Eventually the body adapts and plateaus can occur. A fresh workout or training methodology can help break you out of the fitness rut by forcing you to adapt and create muscle confusion.
Pay attention, there might be a test at the end because this IS the secret.
Here are my tips for overcoming gym anxiety and making the most of your workout...
1. Plan ahead of time.
2. Focus on your workout.
3. Talk to a fitness professional or Group X instructor.
4. Go to the gym at off-peak hours.
5. Bring a friend or fitness mentor.
6. HAVE CONFIDENCE & don’t be afraid to ask questions... We all started at the same place.
So before you go blast your Slipknot or rap music and scare the shit out of anybody, or make the opposite sex think you’re not even interested or not that kind of person and give off the totally wrong vibe about who you really are, remember when you first started and feel some empathy and be an ambassador. I know I have to work on this.
Cheers!
