West Maui sits in the middle of Maui County with visibility in some areas of all Maui Nei islands: Kaho’olawe, Lana’I and Moloka’i. It has a rich history in Hawaiian royalty and culture, missionary endeavors and the sugar cane and whaling industries from many years ago. The beaches of Kaanapali are consistently named some of the best in America, and you can find awesome dining options from Lahaina to Kapalua. Upcountry Maui on the slopes of Haleakala is a region that you don’t want to miss out on! Typical reactions are “I can’t believe this is Hawaii,” “It’s chilly up here,” and “I can’t get over the views!” From miles of hiking trails, numerous organic farms, and exploring Haleakala, there’s plenty to see and do for people of all ages. The north shore of Maui is home to beautiful beaches and some of the most epic water sports conditions in the world. Where kite surfing was born! The north shore towns of Paia and Haiku are much deserving of time in your schedule for exploring, shopping and dining. Aloha! Most visits to Maui begin in Kahului, where the main airport is located. Not many people spend a lot of time exploring Kahului, Wailuku and their surroundings during vacation, but there are hidden gems not to be missed. Wailuku is the county seat where all the business gets done, but it’s also home to local shops, boutiques, and coffee houses. Kahului is a water sport capital and home to Kanaha Beach, a mile of beautiful beach, green lawn, shade trees, and picnic areas. Try some of our suggestions and you’ll see why so many Maui residents call this area home.
