Learning to fly, or even flying in a airplane can be really scary! There’s not many people we know that don’t have at least a little anxiety when they step into an airplane or helicopter. On this episode, we’ll touch on some of these fears… some of them are from personal experience and how we have worked through them. We hope you’ll be encouraged and inspired to move forward!

Are you anxious about booking a Maui vacation? On this episode we’re discussing some of the fears or anxiety some people might have: Will the local residents resent me being there? Is the testing process too much trouble? What if I’m afraid of the water? Is the Road to Hana dangerous? Are there sharks?

Moving to Maui is a huge decision! There are many aspects that you need to consider. Yes, we often romanticize the thought of living in paradise, laying under palm trees, sipping on coconuts all day. But the reality as a resident is that life goes on, so you need to consider: costs, medical care, schooling, and income. Some people are pretty fearful to make these decisions and leave the comfort of “home” – we will talk honestly about our experience on this episode.

Recently we polled our audience and asked, “What’s the first thing you do when you arrive on Maui?” Before we moved to Maui, we always made a stop at Ululani’s in North Kihei for a shave ice before checking into our condo. For some people, they head straight to the beach and sink their toes in the sand. What will be your Maui arrival tradition?

Believe it or not, Hawaii is part of the United States… but in many ways, it feels like you stepped off the plane in another country when you arrive. One reason for this is because Hawaii is an incredible melting pot of people from all kids of nationalities, cultures and languages. Some of the words and phrases you might hear could be the Hawaiian language, pidgin, slang, or a mix of all. Some words and phrases we never imagined we’d be using on a daily basis!
