The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) launched the Hand-in-Hand geospatial platform with a large and rich set of data on food, agriculture, socioeconomics, and natural resources to help strengthen evidencebased decision-making in the food and agriculture sectors. The platform is a crucial tool for all efforts to build back better and create more resilient food systems post COVID-19.

Mauritius issued an appeal to the international community for emergency assistance in this unprecedented ecological catastrophe. On 7th August, nearly two weeks after the Japanese shipwreck, the Mauritian government declared the incident a national emergency.
