Dr. Asghar Adelzadeh is Director and Chief Economic Modeler at Applied Development Research Solutions Global who presented the economic policy scenarios this week. He spoke to us about what economic modelling can tell us about South Africa’s future.

Thokozo Mjo, founder of the Beyond the Lemonade Stand spoke about Beyond the Lemonade Stand, a social venture looking to create a new generation of entrepreneurs who can make a difference. The organisation will be participating in the Basha Uhuru Festival.

Professor Sarah Wurz, from the School of Geography, Archaeology and Environmental Studies at Wits spoke about the earliest archaeological evidence that reveals anatomically modern humans were roasting and eating plant starches, such as those from tubers and rhizomes, as early as 120,000 years ago.

Steve Blatherwick from Electric Safari Vehicles in Mbombela, Mpumalanga spoke about converting safari vehicles to become electric vehicles, in order to make them more environmentally friendly.

Nduduzo Makhathini is a traditional healer, university lecturer, composer and musician. He spoke to us about “Going Back to the Truth of Space”, a new Jazz and Dance Production set to launch at the 2019 National Arts Festival.

Nobesuthu Rayi, acting executive producer for the National Arts Festival spoke about what we can expect from the 2019 edition of the festival which takes place in Makhanda, Eastern Cape from June 27 to July 7.

Aneshree Naidoo, Facilitator at Art of Living spoke about a yoga event that took place today ( Saturday 22 June) at the University of Johannesburg in Soweto, hosted in celebration of International Yoga Day

Dr Alessandra Prioreschi, Associate Director and Researcher at the Developmental Pathways for Health Research Unit spoke about a research conducted by Wits University’s Developmental Pathways for Health Research Unit on youNg women in Soweto. The research identified many barriers to healthy eating, among them the cost of and access to healthy food options.

Tshepo Ramutumbu, founder of the Mbuyisa School of Arts and Culture spoke about Mbuyisa Makhubu the 18-year-old South African school boy seen carrying Hector Pieterson in a famous photograph taken by Sam Nzima on 16 June 1976.
