SCRIPTURE: 1 Corinthians 7.

MAIN IDEA: “Your devotion to the Lord—not your relationship status—is where you find true contentment and satisfaction.”

The issue wasn’t their relationship status—it was what they were focusing on: sexual relations, not their savior.

Their attention had shifted away from serving the Lord and onto their relationship situations. Their contentment was rooted in their relationship status, instead of in their Savior.

SCRIPTURE: Matthew 28:1-10

MAIN IDEA: So, this text is intended to teach us that:

“The risen King is trustworthy, for He never fails to keep His promises.”

This is, in fact, Matthew’s argument throughout his Gospel: 

It is through His resurrection that His true identity is revealed. 

“Jesus is the promised Messiah and the risen King, but we need divine help to truly recognize Him.”

SCRIPTURE: Mark 15:34.

MAIN IDEA: “God never abandons us, even when we feel abandoned under the weight of our sins.”

In other words:

“Despite the weight of our sin, we can still cry out to God, knowing He is present.”

SCRIPTURE: 1 Corinthians 6:1-11.

MAIN IDEA: “In every dispute, God calls us to pursue restored relationships rather than personal victory.”

In other words, 

When a disagreement ends in division instead of restored fellowship, it reveals that it has been handled in a worldly way rather than a Christlike way.

SCRIPTURE: 1 Corinthians 5

MAIN IDEA: “God’s people must take sin seriously and refuse to quietly tolerate it.”

The reason is simple: 

Because God is holy, His people must not ignore sin within the church. Instead, they must take it seriously and deal with it uncompromisingly.

This means we must address sin among us quickly and wisely, before it takes root and spreads.

SCRIPTURE: 1 Corinthians 4

MAIN IDEA: “The Lord rewards faithfulness, not fame.”

Or to say it another way:

“God's servants should be assessed for their faithfulness, not their fame.”

When the Lord returns, He will not ask how famous you were, how talented you were, or how many followers you had. He will look for one thing: Were you faithful with what I entrusted to you?

In fact, Jesus himself put it this way: "Well done, good and faithful servant."

SCRIPTURE: 1 Corinthians 3

MAIN IDEA: “Spiritual maturity is a divine activity, not a human enterprise.”

Or to say it another way:

God alone produces spiritual growth—His servants are only instruments.

So if you want to grow up in Christ, you cannot depend on your association with a particular leader. You must depend on God, who works through them. He alone is the source, the power, and the producer of all true growth.

SCRIPTURE: 1 Corinthians 2

MAIN IDEA: "The Spirit, not human effort, is the source of God's deepest truths."

Or to say it another way:

“The simple message of the cross reveals God’s mystery.”

God’s “secret plan” is not hidden behind human intelligence and brilliance. It is revealed as the gospel is faithfully proclaimed and as the Spirit works in our hearts.

SCRIPTURE: 1 Corinthians 1:18-31

MAIN IDEA: “Human wisdom does not measure up to God’s “foolishness (God’s power and wisdom in the message of the cross).”

Or to put it another way:

You were not saved by human wisdom—but by God’s power displayed in the simple message of the cross.

Your salvation and your identity are rooted in the gospel—not in human wisdom.

SCRIPTURE: 1 Corinthians 1:10-17

MAIN IDEA: “When Christ is displaced, division is inevitable.”

If we are not focusing on Jesus, then whatever else we focus on will divide us.

Living in harmony becomes possible only when Christ—and nothing else—occupies the center.
