In "part 1" of this two-sermon series, Pastor Todd explains that if you do not keep Jesus’ word, you do not know God. 

The children of the devil plan to kill Jesus because they reject His word. We should have confidence in Him and compassion on them, trusting Him to bring them to repentance.

When Jesus grants eternal life by grace, He grants victory over sin, by grace.

As sinners, we stand before God guilty and are in great need of rescue from Him. In love, God provided a propitiation in Christ's substitutionary death resulting in God's justice being met and His freedom to grant forgiveness.

When Jesus sets a sinner free from his sin, his life is characterized by that freedom in discipleship, so that he will lead people to Jesus.

Jesus judges those who deny His deity to be eternally condemned.

Jesus restates that He is the light in a dark world, so that we will earnestly call sinners to repent, before it is too late.

In this passage, Jesus exposes the satisfaction of the believer, the separation of the people and the self-righteousness of the Pharisees.

Jesus calls those who are spiritually parched to be satisfied in drinking from the living water of life so that water will overflow into other needy, thirsty souls.

Jesus then said, “I will be with you a little longer, and then I am going to him who sent me. You will seek me and you will not find me. Where I am you cannot come.”

While He prepares those who follow and believe in Him, He perplexes those who follow, but reject Him.
