The Army plans to cut 40,000 soldiers from its ranks over the next two years, a reduction that will affect virtually all of its domestic and foreign posts. Another 17,000 Army civilian employees would be laid off under the plan: the Army would have 450,000 soldiers by Sept. 30, 2017, the end of the 2017 budget year. The reduction in troops and civilians is due to budget constraints.

Meanwhile, Rep. Martha McSally says U.S. pilots are under too many restrictions that have hampered the air war against the Islamic State on using full air power to destroy ISIS. House Members passed the U.S.-Jordan Defense Cooperation Act, which amends U.S. law to add Jordan to a list of trusted allies that is eligible to receive needed U.S. defense items.

According to page 157 of the ACA bill, the President, VP, and Exec Branch appointees are exempt, as are staff that work for leadership offices and committee staff members.

Republican donor John Jordan said Monday that GOP leaders should take steps to block Trump's access to the first presidential debate in early August.

NBC ended its relationship with Donald Trump Monday, canceling The Apprentice and the Miss USA Pageant, citing Trump's comments denouncing illegal immigrants from Mexico. The network is very scrupulous over its credibility. NBC just put Brian Williams back on the air, if that's his real name.

The contention and debate behind the creation of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

Since its dedication in 1982, the memorial has been one of the most visited monuments, honoring the fallen as a cultural icon. However, there was also a great deal of controversy at the time of its inception, with some dismissing it as "a nihilistic slab of stone." The designer, Maya Lin, was also criticized for her ethnicity, spurring a battle in Congress.

Robert Doubek, who as Project Director, piloted the memorial to federal approval. Robert served as an intelligence officer in the Air Force from 1967-1971, which included a year-long tour in Vietnam.

On July 1, Robert is releasing his book, Creating the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, which provides an insider’s perspective into the origins and debate of the memorial.  Tonight we'll talk with him about it.
