Over 730 animals — dogs, cats, horses, and more — were transferred to Shannon Miranda's celebrated "no-kill" sanctuary in Fortuna, California with promises of finding their forever homes.
Only 116 were confirmed adopted. Investigators exhumed 117 carcasses, 21 skulls, and hundreds of bones. Microchips traced back to 38 families and 6 shelters.
Shannon Miranda’s Rescue: California
Shannon charged up to $5,000 per animal, faked the adoptions, and shot them with a .22 rifle. Investigators found 117 bodies, 600 empty collars, and a barn covered in blood. He is still open for business.
