This week's guest is a former corporate investment advisor turned online entrepreneur. I met Laurie Bodisch, Founder and CEO of Her Wealth Coach at an entrepreneurial event in San Diego, California. We quickly became fast friends and eventually she became a client of mine. In today's episode we discuss how learning about her strengths made her more confident in moving forward with her business, how her strengths played into her corporate job and how she's now proactively living out of her strengths in her own way, free from the bureaucracy of her previous corporate roles.

How well do you manage transition? Even if you want the new upcoming change, how well do you manage walking over that bridge from where you were to where you're going? The way you manage it is really important. Understanding how our strengths affect how you experience change is key. Or at least really helpful.

When was the last time you tried something new and it changed your life? Were you nervous beforehand? Were you glad afterwards that you had tried it? Did you regret putting yourself out there? There are pros and cons to trying new things, but the greatest con is that if you aren't willing to try something new, you'll never know how your life could've changed.

Have you ever been brave about something and when you told others about the dream you were pursuing you started to get "feedback" and it took you by surprise? Then, did you notice that you began doubting yourself and backtracking on your dream, forgetting why you wanted to be brave in the first place? In this episode I talk about how to recognize when someone else's fear starts to influence you and what to do about it. It's real. And just because someone else isn't pursuing what you're pursuing, no matter the reason, doesn't mean you can keep on your path.

There's a situation in my life where I've said a few times out loud, "I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop." In this week's podcast episode I talk about the fine line of trusting that you've done the work to know how to avoid "waiting" for something to fall through and being okay if ultimately the other shoe does drop.

How many times have you pursued something and it didn't turn out the way you thought it would? Did you evaluate and do the hard work to understand where you went wrong? It's easy to blame others or circumstances for what went wrong, but what if you did the work of looking at yourself and seeing how you could improve? Doing that work can seem pointless when you don't fully understand what the results can or will be, but if you do the work you'll see results and your life can dramatically change for the better.

Recognizing what you're good at requires self-awareness and a desire to get honest with yourself. It's easy to dismiss the thing you love doing as the thing you do for fun. But, if you can recognize that there's something deeper to the thing you enjoy doing then you can translate that into something much bigger in your personal and professional life. There's no reason to think that you don't know what you're good at. You absolutely do.

Have circumstances ever seemed so bad that to get out of them seemed impossible? I've been there and know how discouraging it can feel. Where the odds just seem super stacked against you. But did you know that knowing your strengths can actually help you figure out how to move forward in your life despite those overwhelming circumstances? It's true. That's the subject of this week's episode!

Have you ever thought that going back to school would help you figure out what to do with your life? You're not alone. Getting an education has always been a way to move forward in your life. But these days, it's not always the most beneficial. Especially if you pursue a degree in something that isn't up your natural alley. If you feel that education is the right next step for you, know your talents first, then seek out degrees that'll turn them into strengths.

Have you ever asked someone who you thought knew you pretty well to tell you what they thought you were good at? Were they helpful? Spot on? Or were you left scratching your head wondering how they came up with their answer? It can be risky asking others what you're good at and then building a life around it. Sometimes what others see as our strengths, is something we might have learned along the way and become good at. Because our friends can't do the thing we're "good at" they tell us "that's your strength!" Sounds crazy right? Well, it is. There's an easier, more effective alternative to asking others what you're good at.
