    Welcome to The Archivist's Porch

The companion podcast to the 241-Year Daigre Mulberry Grove Legacy Restoration Project (1785-2026).

Hosted by Dr. Theresa Styles, this multigenerational archival initiative documents and preserves more than 1,500 historical records collected during a twenty-three-year preservation journey spanning nine generations of a Louisiana Acadian-Creole family.

Born from the realization that understanding a family requires looking beyond the fractures that appear later in the historical record, the project focuses on restoring the historical context surrounding Paul Olivier Daigre and Marie Jeanne Richard through their eighth child, Gilbert Daigre, Sr. (Papa OG), and the descendants of his son, Gilbert A. Daigre.

The Archivist's Porch serves as the companion voice to that work: a firsthand account of the discoveries, lessons, reflections, and preservation journey behind the archive.

At The Archivist's Table, we follow the evidence.

On The Porch Swing, we reflect on what those discoveries teach us about family, resilience, memory, belonging, and preservation.

This podcast is not simply about genealogy.

It is about learning how to preserve both our history and ourselves.

The archive preserves the records. The podcast preserves the journey.

Because no one should have to begin their story from fragments when they can begin from belonging.

Oh, and by the way, if you hear trains... the porch fans... the cicadas... or the birds in the background... don't worry. That's just the porch. I leave them there because this is where these conversations belong.

    Until next time
