When Sean McCarthy joined Plymouth Argyle in 1988, few people would have thought he would go on to play and star in the Premier League, but Sean did.
From humble beginnings in South Wales, he battled his way though non-league before getting his chance at his boyhood club, Swansea City.
Financial troubles blighted his time at the Swans before Argyle acted as a magnificent springboard for the big forward. Forever remembered for scoring that goal against Everton in the FA Cup and a hat trick in a 3-0 win West Bromwich Albion.
A successful spell at Bradford City led to Premier League side Oldham Athletic getting his signature and although the Latics ended up getting relegated, Sean as fond memories of the top flight.
