The Art Investor

Episode 6 is with Oda Tungodden. We sit down in Oda's studio for a long, in-depth discussion about art and being an artist, and then go on to discuss some of her her pieces, right up to what she's working on now. Prerequisites: Klimt, Delacroix, Humour, Gin (and tonic if you really need it).

Around 47:50 we start discussing the pieces. We won't come hunt you down if you skip straight to them, but be sure to open up our Instagram @the_art_investor and follow along with the numbered pieces as we chat through them.

Episode 5 is with Michael Beckurts. We recorded this episode in The Test Kitchen surrounded by some of Michael’s pieces that are currently on show there. Join us for an in-depth exploration of Mike’s background and work. Beware: the expressionist bug, crocodile cramps, the test kitchen work ethic, and tangents.

Paul Wallington lives & works in Cape Town, South Africa. In this episode we sit in his studio and chat about his stint at Michaelis, his background, making frames, Instagram, worldly advice, his influences and more. Then about halfway through we go through 10 of his paintings, discussing them in detail.

Chris Denovan lives & works in Cape Town, South Africa. In 2005 he graduated with a Diploma in Fine Art (majoring in Painting and Printmaking) from the Ruth Prowse School of Art. He then went on to study at The Animation School in 2006. He also went on to win The Best Concept Characters Prize during his time there.

Gabrielle Raaff lives and works in Cape Town and graduated with a BFA (HDE) from Stellenbosch University in 1992. Gabby's works begin with a photographic image as a springboard. She works with ethereality, using the media of ink, water colour and water-based oil as a vehicle for alluding to the form, the function and the emotion of her subject. Gabby has had five solo shows and exhibited extensively both locally and abroad.
