We (Dr. Will and Anthony Manuele) have done 109 episodes of The Art of
Move Podcast- a show that sought to seek the 'grand unified theory' of
human movement and biomechanics. It explored ideas about functional
fitness, fascia, feet, and fun stuff that others weren't having in depth
conversations about, from the angles that we wanted to hear people
talking about, but didn't find anywhere else.
We attempted to bridge the gap of the 'in-fighting' in the
alternative/progressive functional fitness space, tried to bring the
innovative methods of coaches and systems to bigger audiences, and
debated, digested, and discussed every angle we could find about the
subject.
Over the few years we ran the show, we met some incredible people,
interviewed industry leaders, and learned a LOT about the human body
ourselves. Our movement practices and physicality morphed and evolved as
our perspectives did.
We're both incredibly grateful for everything that we experienced, for
all the connections we made, for all the ways the show helped us
personally upgrade, and of course, all the beautiful messages from the
audience who were taking the journey with us.
As we wrap up this chapter of our personal journeys, we hope you enjoy
this final 'wrap up' episode where we discuss what's next for us
personally, what projects we're going to be working on, and how you can
keep joining us for future conversations about movement and biomech.
This isn't the last we'll be collaborating on shows; Anthony will
continue to produce longform on the Peak Players Podcast, and Will is
livestreaming on many subjects around movement, rehab, biomech and more.
We'll be doing collaborative shows together regularly.

In this episode, Will and I discuss the idea of intent as it pertains to being a driver of movement, then follow-up with a whole tirade of questions about where the origin of intent/consciousness actually arises.
We explore materialism (the brain being a physical system in which consciousness arises) as well as more abstract ideas like the physicality of our system being more of a 'radio receiver' to a larger field of unified consciousness or source.

In this episode, Dr. Will and I attempt to define fundamental terms that pop up in the fitness industry - we had a laundry list of jargon that we wanted to tackle, however, some of the definitions became so philosophically complex, and the tangents so juicy, that we had to pare it down to three very commonly used terms:
-STRENGTH
-CONDITIONING
-STABILITY
These three words are common parlance amongst coaches and figureheads of the S&C world, but very seldom to people take the time to actually define what they MEAN when they say them.
For the sake of clarity, in this new series, we attempt to create cohesive, clear definitions of what WE mean by them, contrasted against how the fitness industry might use them, and how the public might perceive them without any prior education.

It's with great honor and excitement to bring you episode 100 of the Art
of Move Podcast with none other than the legendary Tom Myers;
Thomas Myers studied with Drs. Ida Rolf, Moshe Feldenkrais, and
Buckminster Fuller, and with a variety of movement and manual therapy
pioneers. His work is influenced by cranial, visceral, and intrinsic
movement studies he made with European schools of osteopathy.
An inveterate traveler, Tom has practiced integrative manual therapy for
close to 50 years in a variety of clinical and cultural settings. Tom
is the author of Anatomy Trains (2020, 4th ed), co-author of Fascial
Release for Structural Balance (North Atlantic, 2010, 2017), co-author
of Anatomy Trains in Motion Study Guide (2019), author of Body3, The
Anatomist’s Corner, Structural Integration: Collected Articles, and
BodyReading: Visual Assessment and The Anatomy Trains, and has also
written extensively for Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies
(Elsevier).
He has also produced over 20 online learning courses with Anatomy
Trains, and others in collaboration with various body-oriented
professional groups. Tom lives and sails on the coast of Maine in the
USA. Tom and his team conduct professional development courses and
certification in Structural Integration worldwide.
