This week as we continue on with the series on Ideological Feminism we talk about 3rd Wave Feminism. This is the current status on feminism in our culture today. What is it that feminism has come to? What is it aiming to do? Why do we need to be concerned about it? Answers to these questions can be found in this weeks episode.

In Diabolical Beats we compare and contrast two artists.

The first one we cover is Feels Blind by Bikini Kill with lead artist Kathleen Hanna. She was instrumental and a large proponent of 3rd wave feminism. She was in this band and was a lead in the punk rocker genre of music. We look into the lyrics of this song and talk about the hopeless and blind state in which she is coming from.

In our second piece in Diabolical Beats we look at the music artist LEAH (McHenry) and talk about her style, quality and vision of a hope in the future expressed through her music.

This weeks episode is a continuation of last weeks episode joining in the middle of this conversation. Please See Episode 020.4

As we look at entertainment and the arts we continue the series on Ideological Feminism taking a closer look at 2nd wave feminism and the effects it has on our culture even today. Looking into the issues that come out of feminist thinking we see many struggles and hard things brought into our world that we live in. Again when you abandon God and morality you end up with a subjective and existential idea of how to go about life.

In Scintillating Cinema this week we continue our discussion on 1999 film, Cider House Rules starring Tobey Maguire, Charlize Theron, Michael Caine. This week we talk about the law a bit and how the rules are really a list of things that "don't apply" to the living in the house because they are old and outdated. We take this through and apply it to culture today in regards to the ideas about the Bible and the Ten Commandments.

We look into another Scintillating Cinema piece but by Dr. Seuss titled Horton Hears a Who. We look into the idea that a person is a person no matter how small. This idea is the premise for the entire book and movie that came out in 2008.

As we listen to the audio from a video posted by Bill Nye the Science Guy we talk about his lack of consistent and logical flow to his presuppositions about abortion and women's rights. (you can see the video in its entirety here)

This weeks episode ended up being almost two hours long so
we've decided to break it into a two-part episode.
As we look at entertainment and the arts we continue the series
on Ideological Feminism taking a closer look at
2nd wave
feminism and the effects its had on our culture
even today. Looking into the issues that come out of feminist
thinking we see many struggles and hard things brought into our
world that we live in. Again when you abandon God and morality you
end up with a subjective and existential idea of how to go about
life.
In Scintillating Cinema this week we take a look at the 1999
film, Cider
House Rules
starring Tobey Maguire, Charlize Theron, Michael
Caine. In this
movie one of the key themes is moralizing illegal abortions. This
is the logical outcome of feminism. Women's rush to move back into
the public sphere has resulted in children being abandoned in
the home. Abortion is the best way to "fix" that "problem." They
don't want to have to take care of kids so they decide to kill
them.
Often times society tries to tell us this way of thinking is
alright because women have rights over their own bodies and that
the baby inside of them is not a person and therefore has no
rights, making it okay to kill and abort its life. As we talk on
this topic over the next couple weeks we think about what it should
be like and how we've come to the place we are as a culture

April 22, 2016 Episode 020.3: Feminism Part 3: Creation, Fall, Redemption and Men as the Bumbling Idiot
As we continue in our series on Ideological Feminism we go back
to the roots of the world in order to better understand how
feminism got its start. As we look into the history of man we
examine the ideas of feminism in the Creation, The Fall, and
Redemption narrative and we see that when you take God out of
the picture it kicks open the door for ideologies that are out of
line with Scripture.
Idolatry is part of the reason why we have issues in this world
and we see this because people decide to use something or someone
as the reference point of their identity. When this takes place we
fall into a skewed ideology and as a result things start to
collapse all around us.
As we look into the role of the man in this problem they often
fall into a pattern of ease and irresponsibility and in essence
become a bumbling idiot. We see this all over in art today,
especially in our modern movies and sitcoms. The father figure is
seen as a moron who gets taken advantage of by his kids and
disrespected by his wife. This has been brought on by the lack of
men standing up and taking on their proper role and responsibility
of the man in the home that God has established for them.

In this episode we talk about a portion of a poem titled The Angel in the House by Coventry Patmore and how this idealized woman portrays an inaccurate version of woman as created by God as well as a desperate need for man to be counter-cultural on this very view. We also talk about good ol' Arnold Schwarzenegger and his character in the 1987 film Predator and how this image of a "real" man is to be like a primitive, barbarian who is able to do whatever he wants whenever he wants. No Rules, no bounds, just man in his 'natural' habitat.

This week in the podcast Cody and Roy take on entertainment and the arts in the area of ideological feminism. In this mini-series they will be addressing this philosophy and how it has affected not only the culture but has invaded the home, the church and the workplace. As they look into this idea of feminism over the next few weeks they will be examining many facets in which this idea presents itself and different types of art that have been affected where this underlying ideology is present.

As they open up this segment they take the time to explain what ideological feminism is and a condensed history of this movement. They take a hard look into Chapter 12 of Nancy Pearcey's book Total Truth and how she covers this idea very well in how it has affected the world in which we live. As they look into the history they also contrast it to what it should be like from a Christian worldview.

This week on the podcast Daniel, Cody and Roy take on entertainment and the arts and the Zombie apocalypse and how they really represent the human condition.
In the opening segment we talk about the current things going on in our lives like crab cracking, dude-a-muffins and being a legalist motorcycle owner.
We also discuss some changes coming to the podcast in the structure and layout. This new way of doing things will give you weekly episodes rather than bi-weekly and you can expect to start hearing promos for other podcasts in the network.
And in the Scintillating Cinema segment we talk a little about The Walking Dead. This is just a small idea, of which we will be dedicating an entire podcast to in the future, about zombies and how they really reflect our humanity. This week Daniel, Cody and Roy take on the arts and the philosophical view of existentialism in the paintings of Jackson Pollock and the 2015 blockbuster movie Mad Max: Fury Road.
In the Philosophical Flusters segment we talk about existentialism and what it is, the good and the bad. We also address how this plays into a worldview outside of christianity.
In the Peculiar Painting segment we talk bout a little history of the modern artist Paul Jackson Pollock and we emphasis one painting in particular titled - One: Number 31 and how this painting expresses his loose and meaningless style of painting called Drip Painting or Action Painting. And we com to a conclusion that it really is childish.
In the Scintillating Cinema Segment we talk about the 2015 action packed blockbuster movie Mad Max: Fury Road. We examine the idea of existentialism that is underlying throughout the movie is different characters.
As we take on this idea in these different form of art we talk about how we are to view things differently as Christians and how this worldview leads to meaninglessness and chaos.

In this weeks episode Daniel, Cody, and Roy take on the art from
a Christian worldview with the idea portrayed in our pop-culture in
regards to drugs and its use.
In Scintillating Cinema we look at the 1994 movie The
Mack starring Jim Carey and we examine the idea behind The Mask and
its draw it has over Jim's character Stanley Ipkiss. As we talk
about this movie and the underlying relation the mask seems to have
to drugs we also touch on the idea of alcohol.

In the second part of the discussion we look at the medicated
curlicue given in the book by Ken Kesey titled One Flew Over the
Cuckoo's Nest. IN this short segment we talk about the medicated
culture we live in and the false idea of needing meds to either
