As he spoke, a few tears fell from his eyes. "Cow is mother," he shared with me. "She supplies milk, and you are killing her. It is like killing your mother. Is that any kind of gratitude? Is that advancement of civilization? Every twenty-five years there is a big war. War and crime. This is their punishment, their reaction, and they will suffer more. Now they are repenting, and they will have to repent more and more."

It took several minutes for the gravity of this exchange to sink in. He was actually asking me to paint for him - to paint that same supreme entity I had previously envisioned as unlimited but formless.
Lifting myself up from the bowing position, and, still kneeling, I glanced toward my new initiating spiritual guru. His eyes looked full of love, and I again felt as if he were seeing deep to my innermost being.
In his lecture, Srila Prabhupada also responded to my longstanding worry about interpersonal conflict. He explained that in this world our interests always clash, and this is due to illusion.
