Our guest today is the fabulous children’s book illustrator, Christine Battuz! Upon getting her Masters in Fine Arts in Italy, Christine put together a portfolio and started reaching out to advertising agencies where she thought she could get some work. The first Artistic Director she met told her that she should become an illustrator because she was clearly gifted. At that point, she didn’t even know (nor believed) that she could actually make it her profession! She started her career as an independent illustrator and is now represented by an NYC-based agent. It’s not to say that she did not have a few challenges or disappointing experiences along the way. In today’s episode, Catherine and Christine explore the artist’s professional path and all the ups and downs that make it a journey.
Conversation Highlights:
