  • SOLO FOUNDER: Should You Pay For Freelance Developers?
Should you find a cofounder or pay for a freelancer(s)? Is it bad to have too many hands in your code? How about finding an intern or two? You can always hire and pay a full-time engineer, but who really has 80,000 to 125,000 lying around to pay a salary? This is what I’m going to try next.

  • SOLO FOUNDER: Finding The Right Cofounder. Myth?
Welcome back! I’m back at it! This is a great episode to come back with. Exciting turning point in the podcast and my solo founder journey. The conversation flows naturally. It’s silly, funny and serious, but most of all raw and uncut! No edits. As always. Hit me up @theSoloFounder 👊🏼 And my cofounder @metroCoder

  • SOLO FOUNDER: Solve Problems? or Create & Innovate?
“If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses.”
    -Henry Ford
The past few months have been interesting. Obviously still working on sanoMind, but doing a lot of soul searching. As I watch the mental health space I'm trying to figure out where it's going. I still stand by what I'm working on here at sanoMind. Everyone has a brain therefore everyone can benefit from mental health education and knowledge. The information is out there, but it's very scattered and not really easily digestible. I'm constantly reading through all the mental health groups I'm in and I see two things in all of them.  People are looking for help and companionship.
In this podcast I ramble about my soul searching and where mental health is going as a whole. Where do therapists fit in in this every changing world? How do I stay sane while still working on my mental health daily and trying to build something from nothing when the majority of people couldn't care less about sanoMind? I also touch upon people giving founders ideas and feedback and how most people don't truly know what they want in a product. You have to see what they don't see and build something amazing that they will learn to love. Who knows, I'm just learning and figuring it out one day at a time.
And some more rambling. I recorded this 5 days ago and forgot what else I spoke about, haha!

  • SOLO FOUNDER: Mistakes To Avoid After Launching A Product
Looking back at the first 12 months since launching sanoMIND, I can clearly see all the silly mistakes I made. Some were made because I was stubborn and others I chalk up to being a first-time product founder.
The mistakes are easily fixable. I'll never get that time back. It's gone forever. But what I can do is make sure the next 12 months are way better than the first.

  • SOLO FOUNDER: Y Combinator Start-up School, Growth Hacking & Mindfulness
It's been a while since I recorded an episode, but I'm back! There hasn't been much going on so I had nothing to talk about. We did, however, get into Ycombinator startup school! It's not the accelerator, but it's just as good! Just no funding... yet. I've been working on living a life of mindfulness and its a game changer. Also, growth hacks, what's the secret? There is no growth hack. In this episode I talk about what it takes to grow! The book ”Mindfulness” is written by Bhante Gunaratana

  • SOLO FOUNDER: When Depression, Anxiety and Stress Hits All At The Same Time
The last week was very mentally challenging! Stress, anxiety and moments of depression all throughout last week. The stress and anxiety have been creeping up on me for some time now and last week it all hit at once.
Looking back, I was worrying too much about the future and not living in the present moment. But, there are things I did to fight through those rough patches last week.
Being a founder, especially a solo founder trying to build a startup, is lonely and super stressful. I talk about some of the things I do to keep my mind sharp and in top form!

  • SOLO FOUNDER: Stuck On Starting An App or Company? Keep this in mind.
I moved way too slow when I first wanted to start sanoMind. I made the excuse of not having a technical co-founder and I heard all the stories how you can't start a tech startup without a technical co-founder.
Well, I started anyway and although it's lonely and much harder doing this alone, I love it and I'm happy I started!
I'll tell you a little bit about how I started it and what I did. It's not some 'PRO' advice. I know nothing, I just learn what I don't know and make it happen!
I actually learned to make it happen no matter what from my time at Enterprise Holdings. AKA Enterprise Rent A Car. The people that work there definitely don't get the credit they deserve from other companies. But, I'll record an episode on this soon!

  • SOLO FOUNDER: Growth Hacking, One Download At A Time
It's a humid Monday night and I'm sitting on my balcony relaxing. It's probably around 10:30 pm and I'm thinking about my day. Building an app/product and company is hard, but when you love and really believe in what you're doing, you LOVE it.
Getting people to actually USE your product is another battle. It just so happens I decided to launch a two-sided marketplace product. When this was just an idea I had no fucking clue about two-sided marketplaces, lol. So of course, not only did I launch a consumer app (which is super hard to grow) but it's also a two-sided marketplace! Double Whammy!
Luckily I'm in love with what I'm doing and it doesn't feel like work. But, just like love, there are many things that happen day to day that hurt. Always pushing forward and keeping my mind sharp, every day.
Hope this gives someone a little push or help.
