The Artist's Mindset

What if the the missing puzzle pieces of your life could be found among the artifacts of your past? We mine the cultural and personal importance of The Golden Girls, a television show which ran for seven seasons between 1985 and 1992, in search of its relevance and impact on the issues of aging, loneliness and isolation.

The Shining is more than a horror tale about a man driven to violence by a haunted hotel. The Shining is also a story about how isolation, addiction, guilt and imagination can impair the human psyche. In this podcast we discuss all things King and Kubrick as we unravel the visual symbolism and hidden meanings within the book and film that have left indelible marks on our culture-- including  themes and buried narratives that continue to fascinate us with their uncanny ability to still be relevant after all this time.

Bob Ross was the ever-present, always televised art teacher brought to the general public by PBS in the 80s and 90s. His large following was not only heroic during his lifetime, but awe-inspiring and now. almost 25 years after his death, he's facing a resurgence in the modern framework thanks to Netflix and Youtube. School children across the globe have flocked to his shows as have curious adults.
