On this evening's penultimate episode of this series of The Arts Show, Una will bring you a little of what’s been happening festival-wise around Kilkenny over the past week or so.

There are chats with singer and artist Eleanor Shanley, a catch up with local actor Ger Cody ahead of Lake Productions now sold-out staging of The Quiet Land which runs in Thomastown on 13 and 14 August.

It's also the final book club meet of the series where the panel discuss The Ferryman and His Wife.

On this week's programme, we bring you chats, and music, from the Glass Attic Gallery at Jerpoint, where local artists gathered for the opening of George Vaughan's Paintings exhibition. We chat to George himself, and to fellow artist, Bernadette Kiely. We meet Rory Leadbetter, master glass blower at Jerpoint and ceramicist, Gus Mabelson. We speak with harpsichordist Malcolm Proud, who opened the exhibition, classical pianist Finghin Collins and singer-songwriter Mick Hanly. We hear beautiful music on the recorder and the classical guitar from Laoise O'Brien and Michael O'Toole and enjoy Mick Hanly's beautiful song The Writing On The Wall, sung by Sean Keane. 

On this week's show we stop by The Medieval Mile Museum. We visit Xquisite dance studios to catch up with former dancer with the stars, John Nolan. We meet committee members, and participating artists, at The Alternative Kilkenny Arts Festival launch. And we enjoy some song by the banks of the Nore, as his American, and local, descendants, gather to remember soldier, Michael Green, at the Peace Park. 

On The Arts Show this week Una chats with singer-songwriter Lisa O’Neill, ahead of her performance at Live at Castle Mills, in Kilkenny, this weekend. There's great music and song from July's kitchen session at The Mayfair Library and we pay another great visit to the Tea Houses, this time for an Atelier Páipéar, an artists bookfair. We finish the episode with Lisa O'Neill's song Violet Gibson, about the lady who, 100 years ago, shot Mussolini. 

On The Arts Show this week we visit Rothe House and Gardens in Kilkenny. We head to Graiguenamanagh, to meet singer-songwriter Robert Grace, and hear him lead the entire community in song. We also meet members of Graiguenamanagh Brass Band - the oldest one in Ireland! We're in The Watergate Theatre to find out what happens at a Performing Arts Camp and the bookclub members, Rozz Lewis and Maresa Sheeehan are back to discuss Early Morning Riser by Katherine Heiney. Maresa shares one of her poems, particularly suitable for the sunny, summer evening. 

On this week's show we head to a fascinating arts centre - The Pembroke Club d'Art in Carlow. Bernard Jennings shows us around with stories and songs along the way. We sit in on Gerry Cody and Brendan Corcoran as they rehearse for an upcoming production of Malachy McKenna's The Quiet Land. We catch up with some of the creative attendees and winners at the Network Ireland Kilkenny Business Woman of the Year Awards and we stop for a listen to Roberto who was busking on The Butterslip. 

On this evening's show we continue our conversation with festival director Olga Barry about the upcoming Kilkenny Arts Festival and we join Kilkenny County Council Arts Office as it engages in public consultations on The Parade. We visit The Tea Houses for Rachel Burke's exhibition Blue is the Eye and to attend a beautiful community plein air drawing and painting event. We speak to The Butler Gallery studio artist in residence Shiro Masuyama about his projects - a half Irish, half English caravan and Brexit Sausages. That, and more...... 

On this week's show, we celebrate the launch of The Kilkenny Arts festival, with a good chat with festival director, Olga Barry. We also meet Slovak violin virtuoso, Vladimir Jablokov ahead of his performance at The Watergate this Sunday. We sneak onto set for some of the filming of The Last Resort on John's Street and it's time for our first book club meet, Maresa Sheehan and Rozz Lewis are in to discuss Danielle McLaughlin's beautiful book Rituals.
