In today’s episode, we look at the spiritual significance of the battle between Israel and Amalek in the wilderness. This moment in Exodus isn’t just historical—it’s a picture of the lifelong battle between the believer and the flesh. The Amalekites represent the flesh in Scripture, and just like them, the flesh must be dealt with completely or it will rise again.

Text: Exodus 17:8–16

1. Fighting the Flesh (vv. 8–9)
   • The Amalekites represent the flesh.
   • The Christian life involves a daily battle.
   • Galatians 5:24
2. Lifting Each Other Up (vv. 11–12)
   • Moses' prayers mattered more than Joshua’s sword.
   • We need each other for strength and support.

3. God Gives the Victory (vv. 13–16)
   • Jehovah-Nissi: The Lord is our banner.
   • Victory is promised—but must be pursued.
   • Galatians 2:20, 1 Corinthians 15:31

The Resurrection According to the Scriptures

Text: 1 Corinthians 15:1–4 Theme: The resurrection is the foundation of the gospel—foretold and fulfilled.

Talking Points:

• The centrality of the resurrection in the Christian faith.
• Greek culture vs. biblical truth about resurrection.
• “According to the Scriptures” — The gospel is not man-made (Gal. 1:11–12).
• Christ died, was buried, and rose again — just like the Bible said!
• We still live according to the Scriptures (Hebrews 5:1–3).

🔹 Episode 2: Eyewitnesses to Glory – He Was Seen

Text: 1 Corinthians 15:5–7 Theme: The resurrection is a proven reality, confirmed by many witnesses.

Talking Points:

• Jesus showed Himself alive by “many infallible proofs” (Acts 1:3).
• Eyewitness accounts: Peter, the twelve, over 500, James.
• These were real people who staked their lives on what they saw.
• Our faith is not blind—it’s rooted in history and truth.

Closing Thought: The same risen Christ who appeared to them is still real today.

🔹 Episode 3: From Persecutor to Preacher – Grace Declared

Text: 1 Corinthians 15:8–11 Theme: The resurrection changes lives—Paul is living proof.

Talking Points:

• Paul the persecutor became Paul the preacher—“But then came Jesus!”
• Grace made him a partaker (2 Timothy 1:8; 2 Peter 1:4).
• Grace was bestowed—freely given, not earned.
• Paul became a possessor of resurrection life (Ephesians 2:1).
• You can find yourself in that phrase: “But by the grace of God…”

🎙 Episode Title: Is God With Us or Not? 📖 Text: Exodus 16–17 (Focus: 16:1–3; 17:7)

🔑 Intro:

• Have you ever asked, “Where is God in all this?”
• Israel did—again and again.
• In Exodus 16 and 17, just one month after crossing the Red Sea, the people began murmuring… again.
• This episode explores their protest, God’s proving, and His provision—and how it all relates to trust.

1️⃣ The Protest of Israel (Exodus 16:1–3)

• Whining was Israel’s besetting sin.
  • From Pharaoh’s palace to the Red Sea… to Marah… and now the wilderness.
• They remembered Egypt’s food, but forgot the bondage.
• “Murmuring” is low, sullen complaining—it’s not loud rebellion, but persistent distrust.
• Root issue? They didn’t trust God.
  • Moses did. Some others did. But the majority grumbled.

📍 Application: Do we forget the pain of our past when things get tough today? Do we blame leaders instead of trusting the Lord?

2️⃣ The Proving of God (Exodus 16:4–36)

• God gave manna to test them: “That I may prove them…” (v. 4)
• This was about faith—daily dependence:
  • Matthew 6:11 – Give us this day our daily bread.
• Some believed. Others failed:
  • They gathered more than needed—disobeyed (v. 20–21)
  • Ignored instructions again (v. 22–28)

📝 Lessons from the Manna:

• God supplies daily grace—not weekly storage.
• He’s teaching them (and us) to trust Him moment by moment.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Generational Responsibility:

• (v. 32–36) — “Others need to see what God did for us.”
• Parents must pass down God’s faithfulness to the next generation.

3️⃣ The Provision of Water (Exodus 17:1–4)

• A new test—no water—same reaction: complaint and doubt.
• They forgot what God did at Marah (Exodus 15).
• As Robert Rayburn said: “There ain’t much education in the second kick of a mule.”
• Every difficulty is either a testing ground or a stumbling block.

🔨 Brake and Rest Stop Illustration:

• Like highway signs say, “Give ‘Em a Brake”—Israel needed to slow down and trust instead of attacking Moses.
• They nearly stoned him at Rephidim.

4️⃣ God Provides Water (Exodus 17:5–7)

• Despite the grumbling, God provides from the rock.
• Moses strikes the rock, and water flows—a picture of grace despite rebellion.
• The place is named Massah and Meribah—“testing” and “quarreling.”

Outline and Notes:

David likely wrote Psalm 124 after a great deliverance from God. Bro. Edward Reese places it after 1 Chronicles 28:11–21.

As a Psalm of Ascent, it was sung by worshippers traveling to Jerusalem—David himself longed to worship and wanted others to join him.

We, too, as New Testament believers, have experienced great deliverance—our redemption through Jesus Christ.

David recognized that without God, Israel would have been overrun. Their survival was solely because of the Lord.

This psalm is a powerful reminder:

“If it had not been the Lord who was on our side...”

1. The Attack of the Enemy (vv. 2–3)

• The Defeat Was Certain (v. 2)
• Despair Was Surrounding (v. 3)

2. An Attitude of Evil (v. 5)

Cross references:

• Proverbs 11:2 — “When pride cometh, then cometh shame...”
• Proverbs 16:18 — “Pride goeth before destruction...”
• Proverbs 29:23 — “A man's pride shall bring him low...”
• Jeremiah 13:9 — “I will mar the pride of Judah...”

3. An Advocate That Provides Escape (vv. 6–7)

David praises God for being their rescuer.

Without God, they would have been prey in the mouth of a predator, but God made them like a bird escaping a hunter’s snare.

1 John 2:1 — “...we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
