In this episode, William Hamilton and I sat down with Michael Cholbi, an esteemed professor of the Philosophy of Death and Dying at the University of Edinburgh, to discuss three main topics related to euthanasia:

1. "What is Euthanasia" and how does it relates to assisted Suicide and "regular" suicide as well as the reasons one might choose to be euthanized.


2. The ethics of euthanasia, both from a legal and normative standpoint, i.e., should euthanasia be legal and is it morally right for someone to choose euthanasia?


3. A brief discussion on the importance of the Philosophy of Death and Dying.

Professor Michael Cholbi has written many articles and books related to the Philosophy of Death and Dying and if you are interested in reading his work here is a link to his website

In this episode we discuss this question:  "Is an addiction another form of slavery, i.e., does it take away our freedom?"

The word addiction stems from the Roman Myth Addictus. Addictus was a freed slave who still walked around with his chains even though he could have taken them off at any point because he had become so used to wearing them. We use this story as a jumping off point to discuss the relationship between addictions and freedom and the nature of addictions more broadly.

The question we invite you guys to answer is: "What thing that is not considered an addiction today, will be considered one in the future?"
