The Athletic Fantasy Football Podcast

With the Rams and Cardinals set to get together on Monday night, it's a guarantee that more than a few playoff berths and regular season championships hang in the balance. All we can say to those of you involved is good luck. The rest of us have to turn our attention to Week 15 and the start of the 2021 fantasy football playoffs.

That's exactly what Beller, Jake and Brandon do on this episode of The Athletic Fantasy Football Podcast. Is Rashaad Penny about to become a fantasy playoff hero? Is Taysom Hill right there with him? On the other side of the coin, is it time to be worried about Dak Prescott? The guys answer all of those questions, and get into a whole lot more as they put a bow on Week 14 and the fantasy football regular season.

Michael Beller and Derek VanRiper take their first look at the Week 15 waiver wire. Where should you turn at quarterback if Lamar Jackson is forced to miss time after leaving with an injury in Week 14? Is Rashaad Penny finally taking over the Seattle backfield? Is Rashod Bateman primed to take a big step forward in the fantasy playoffs?

It's the final week of the fantasy football regular season. Playoff berths will be secured. Playoff hopes will be dashed. Regular season titles will be secured, along with the precious byes that typically accompany them. It's the biggest week of the fantasy season to date.

Beller, Jake and Funston are here to break it all down on this episode of The Athletic Fantasy Football Podcast. Are Buccaneers-Bills and Cardinals-Rams going to be as exciting as they appear on paper. Can you trust running backs like Chuba Hubbard and D'Onta Foreman? Who could go belly up at precisely the wrong time? The guys get into all that, and a whole lot more.

The Packers and Chargers are both double-digit favorites in Week 14 against also-rans, the Bears and Giants, respectively. Unsurprisingly, they're two of the most popular selections in Survivor pools this week.

Beller and DVR break down the Survivor landscape on this episode of The Athletic Fantasy Football Podcast. One of the two is making one of those big favorites his One True Pick, even after breaking news that dropped near the end of the show. The other is taking one of the three other comfortable favorites this week. When in doubt, you can almost always fade the Texans, Jaguars and Jets. Almost always.

A Week 14 regular season finale is new to most of us. New to all of us, and far more annoying is Week 14 byes. Plenty of fantasy managers will be looking to lock up playoff byes and playoff berths without Jonathan Taylor, and that's just one of the subplots of Week 14.

Beller, Vaccaro and Brandon get into all of those subplots on this episode of The Athletic Fantasy Football Podcast. They discuss the Titans and 49ers backfields, injuries for Joe Burrow and Taysom Hill, the utility of Marquez Valdes-Scantling and K.J. Osborn, and a whole lot more.

It's Beat Writer Tuesday on The Athletic Fantasy Football Podcast. Jeff Zrebiec (Ravens), Jay Morrison (Bengals) and Arif Hasan (Vikings) join Beller to discuss their teams from a fantasy perspective.

What's up with Lamar Jackson? Has Devonta Freeman discovered the fountain of youth? How's Joe Burrow's finger? Is Ja'Marr Chase hitting a rookie wall? How does the Vikings offense change without Adam Thielen? Our beat writers answer all those questions, and plenty more.

After that, Funston joins Beller to open up our Athletic Fantasy Sports mailbag. The guys tackle some real-world Week 14 issues, then get into fantasy theory with a discussion whether points scored should determine any playoff spots.

Now that's more like it. Week 13 reminded us why we love this sport and game so much, with great games and standout individual performances from start to finish, making for one of the most exciting fantasy weeks of the season.

Beller, Jake and Funston break it all down on this episode of The Athletic Fantasy Football Podcast. Is RB1 Javonte here to stay? What was that egg from Patrick Mahomes? Are the Rams back? Is all well for the Chargers after the latest installment in their season-long Jekyll and Hyde act? The guys answer those questions, name Week 13 winners and losers, and do a whole lot more over this hour.

Michael Beller and Derek VanRiper take their first look at the Week 14 waiver wire. Another injury in Minnesota has opened the door for two new pass-catching options on the wire in many leagues, the Eagles' backfield might be in flux again with Miles Sanders' early exit in Week 13, plus Jamison Crowder might have a path back to relevance with the Jets following Corey Davis' injury on Sunday.
