  • S2E1: Meet Isabel & A Peek Into Season 2

Welcome back to The AUSA Podcast, we're very excited to kick off our second season! We kinda sorta miss winter break—we hope everyone's was sweet and restful—but we're so glad to be back. Hopefully you all had a BLAST during Winter Welcome Week and a not-too-crazy first week of classes! Join Brenna and Luke as they introduce the newest member of the CAT, Isabel (not to be confused with Isabella)! Isabel talks a bit about herself and the time she spent in Kenya over break, and then we move into a discussion on what this season of the podcast will look like!

We believe that no matter your vocation, major, or role on campus, we are all called to creating and cultivating culture, and that mostly, whether we know it or not, we are always doing something to affect the spaces and people around us. This season, we want to take a look at some of the ways different organizations and individuals on campus think of and go about culture making—Student Activities, Residence Life, Student Development, Campus Ministries, Student Government, etc. Of course, we'll flesh out that term a little more before we get started, but we're excited for this season and we hope you are too!

  • S1E14: Shifting Rhythms and A Rule of Life

Welcome back to The AUSA Podcast for our final episode this season! For our last week, Brenna is joined by Luke, Parker, and Isabella for a conversation about rhythms. Everyone has rhythms, and whether you make it a point to practice them or not, they affect how you interact with God, yourself, and the world. What we do forms us into who we are, so it’s important to be mindful about those practices (again, intentional or not) that are shaping us. We talk about what rhythms we have in place, how we prioritize practicing rhythms, how we feel when those rhythms change, and how we combat the shift that comes with break.

From all of us non the Student Activities team, have such a restful break! We are grateful for all of you, and if break is particularly hard for you, know you’re not alone. The holidays can be tricky and messy for a lot of people—some of your Student Activities friends included—so we get it. You’ve got this! Finish strong on your finals and rest it up over winter break. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for listening in to a great season, and for being patient as we get this thing started. We’ll see you next semester with more episodes and more events!

  • S1E13: Happy Thanksgiving!

After a week off, welcome back to The AUSA Podcast! We hope you enjoyed our series on Rest, Work, and Play. Happy Thanksgiving Week! We’re sad that we’ve only got one episode left in the season after this, but we’re very excited for turkey and parades and football and family and friends and…. This week, Brenna is joined by Braelyn, Michael, Kat, and Annalee to talk all things Thanksgiving. Of course, we touch on the favorite foods and beloved traditions, but we also chat about the ways in which the holiday season can be hard, the necessity for thankfulness and gratitude year round, and what those practices of gratitude might look like!

Unfortunately, since we’re moving into break, we don’t have any events to keep you up to date on. We are grateful for all of you though, and we hope that you have an amazing Turkey Day with the people you love. If Thanksgiving is particularly hard for you, know you’re not alone. The holidays can be tricky and messy for a lot of people—some of your Student Activities friends included—so we get it. You’ve got this! Finish strong on your finals and rest it up over winter break. We’ll see you back next week for one more episode!

  • S1E12: Ordinary Worship, Part 3 - Play

Welcome back to The AUSA Podcast! Today, to finish up our series on Rest, Work, and Play, Luke and Brenna sit down to talk about Play with an AU Alum and former member of the CAT, Sam Walker! We usually don’t think of “play” as something we do as college students or adults, but like Rest and Work it’s actually a way to worship. Join us as we chat about what play is, why we play, what it looks like to play, and how—again, like Rest and Work—play looks different everyone!

At the end of the day, Rest, Work, and Play are all so deeply connected—it’s hard to do one without the others. We hope these conversations have been helpful for you and that you’ve been able to take something tangible away from them that you can practice in your life!

  • S1E11: Ordinary Worship, Part 2 - Work

Welcome to this week’s episode of The AUSA Podcast! Today, we’re continuing our series looking at Rest, Work, and Play! This week, Luke and Brenna sit down with Guest Service’s own Bethany Turner to talk about Work! This is a long one, but it’s a good one so bear with us. Because Work is so important, we wanted to bring this to a large scale and move through the entire story of the Bible, taking a look at what God’s intentions for work are, how we’ve veered away from them, how Jesus brings us back to them, and how our work will be redeemed in light of the Cross. Thanks for listening, see you next week as we wrap up our series with an episode about Play!

  • S1E10: Ordinary Worship, Part 1 - Rest
Welcome back to The AUSA Podcast! Today, we’re kicking off another series. We don’t want to get ahead of ourselves, so we’ll just say that this one is sort of about life as a college student. For this first episode, Luke and Brenna sit down with one of our CATs, Lindsey Gatlin, to chat about Rest—what it is, what it isn’t, why it’s important, and how we can practice it! So often we can get bogged down in the busyness of life as a student that we forget to take time to just be still and silent, to recharge, and we become burnt out, irritable, and scattered. Join us as we talk about Rest and share some ways that we practice Sabbath week-to-week.
As always, we end out the episode by giving an overview of all of this week's events! Tonight we have Murder Mystery! Check out AUnited and Instagram to see if we’ve got any open spots, and come on out for some fun! On Tuesday night we have Jess Connolly coming to campus to talk with us about her book “Breaking Free From Body Shame,” so go ahead and RSVP on AUnited. On Wednesday morning we have another fun event with Jess, so stay tuned for info on that. Friday night, we’ve got Trunk or Treat! Drop by for some candy from Clubs & Orgs and see your very own Campus Activities Team. Finally, on Saturday, we have our Halloween Movie Night! We’ll be watching Halloweentown! We’re really excited for this week and we hope you are too! See you there!
