  • Inanna Part 2: Losing People After You Heal and How to Rebuild

When Inanna climbs back out of the underworld, her husband is on the throne. Comfortable. Not mourning. Not looking for her.

That’s the part nobody puts on a graphic, and it’s the part that happens to us. You go through something that nearly ends you, and the people closest to you carry on like it’s any other Tuesday.

This episode is about the return and  what happens after the healing, when you come back changed to a life that didn’t change with you.

    In this episode:

∙Why nobody came down after you, and why some people were fine with you drowning

∙How giving people the benefit of the doubt kept me overriding my own intuition for two decades

∙Why healing makes you lose people

∙My last return: a divorce, a new city, feeding my kids from scratch, and the two years it took to settle

∙The criteria I use now for who gets into my inner circle

∙Why your nervous system will choose familiar chaos over unfamiliar comfort every time; and why you need outside eyes

∙Pouring into yourself, learning your own company, and building the welcome nobody gave you

Journal prompts: Who benefited from the version of you that was struggling? What are your actual criteria for closeness? What have you rebuilt that you’re proud of?

  • Finding Meaning After Sexual Trauma

I’ve been told I was fine by people whose job it was to help me. Therapists. Religious counselors. Every time, I walked out feeling more alone than when I walked in.

This episode is about what happens after and about what I refuse to say to you.

It was not a blessing. It was not a gift. It did not happen for a reason. But there is something real underneath all that toxic positivity, and it’s worth separating out: post-traumatic growth doesn’t say trauma is good for you. It says that for some people, the struggle afterward builds something. Not the event. The struggle.

Which means the credit belongs to you, not to the thing that hurt you.

    In this episode:
∙Why “everything happens for a reason” quietly makes your trauma yours
∙What post-traumatic growth actually claims and the three things it does not
∙Why I became a therapist, and healing depression, grief, and sexual abuse mostly on my own
∙If a therapist left you feeling unseen, that was a bad fit & not proof you can’t be helped
∙What healing actually took: movement, self-care, self-talk, boundaries, awareness, reflection, and years
∙Why you’re not behind, and why looking for meaning too early is its own pressure
∙A guided GLOW™ practice and three journal prompts

Journal prompts: What have you made out of what happened? Who did you become that you actually like? What helped you heal that wasn’t talking?

Content note: this episode discusses depression, the death of a parent, and sexual abuse.

  • Ninety Seconds in the Bathroom: A Practice for Hard Family Visits

A 90-second guided practice for the middle of a difficult family visit m; when you’ve stepped out, shut the door, and you need to come back to yourself before you go back in.

No preamble. No long introduction. You press your feet into the floor, you breathe, and you walk back out as the woman you are now instead of the girl who’s still hoping for something.

Save this one before you need it.

It works sitting down, with your phone in your hand, and it makes no noise.

  • Healthy Masculine Energy & Boundaries After a Father Wound

My no is a no. If something feels off in my body, my mind, or my heart; it’s off. I don’t need to build a case for it anymore.

This is the practical half of the father wound. How to build the protector you didn’t have, how to tell safe from familiar, and what healthy masculine energy actually means; which has nothing to do with being a man.

If you grew up without a good example of a gentleman or a gentlewoman, you didn’t end up with bad judgment. You ended up without a blueprint. This episode is how to build one as an adult.

    In this episode:
∙What healthy masculine energy really is
∙Your no is a complete sentence, and how to honor it even when trauma sets off false alarms
∙My refuse list: digs disguised as humor, playing small, second-guessing myself, settling
∙Green flags that actually matter, starting with whether someone can repair
∙Why a safe person can feel boring, and how your body learns safety by repetition
∙Why I came out later in life, and what conditioning does to your ability to know what you want
∙A guided GLOW™ practice to find where safety lives in your body

Journal prompts: What’s on your refuse list? Where does safety live in your body? What’s one small no you can say this week?

Part one: The Father Wound, is the grief underneath these tools. This is PART 1 of this episode - Listen Now!! https://www.buzzsprout.com/2467345/episodes/19921706-healing-the-father-wound-grief-silence-daddy-issues

  • Healing the Father Wound: Grief, Silence & Daddy Issues

The father wound is quieter than the mother wound, and that’s exactly why so few women ever grieve it. In this episode I share my own father, one lunch in my whole life, no gifts, no advice, and complete silence when something terrible happened to me as a teenager.

We look at three fathers: the frightening one, the absent one, and the one who was in the house but unreachable. Then we go into the two things that actually move this wound;  grief, and discernment.

    In this episode:

∙Why a father’s silence lands as no one is coming to defend me

∙Grieving the father you never got, and why that loss goes unrecognized

∙Why “daddy issues” puts the wound back on the daughter  and what to call it instead

∙How growing up without a safe man leaves you without a baseline, not without judgment

∙Why safe can feel boring and unsafe can feel electric

∙A guided GLOW practice and two journal prompts

Content note: this episode discusses childhood neglect, sexual assault, and the death of a parent.

  • Boundaries With an Unsafe Mother Without Going No Contact

What do you actually do when the mother you’re healing from is still calling, still coming to Christmas, still in your life every week? This episode is the practical one:  how to set boundaries with a toxic or emotionally unsafe mother without going no contact, and without losing yourself in the process.

Most advice on narcissistic or unsafe mothers treats this as a choice between cutting her off or accepting her. This episode refuses that binary. Most women aren’t going no contact, and that doesn’t make them weak. It makes them people with grandchildren, fathers, siblings, and forty years of complicated love.

    Instead, we build a protocol.

    In this episode:

∙The drive; why you become eleven years old on the way there

∙Change the metric; scoring the visit on your own regulation, not her behavior

∙Name the impossible goal; why hoping for an apology leaves you starving

∙Don’t send a nine-year-old to the meeting; a 90-second parts practice for the parking lot

∙The contact protocol, before; your exit, your ally, your two sentences

∙The contact protocol, during; body checkpoints, the information diet, and why “grey rock” can backfire for trauma survivors

∙The contact protocol, after;  who not to debrief with, and why you need 48 hours

∙When it gets worse before it gets better;  the escalation that follows a new boundary

∙Ambiguous loss;  grieving a mother who is still alive

∙Inanna and the seven gates; taking yourself back on the drive home

∙A GLOW™ practice for the car, after

    Journal prompts from this episode:

1.What am I actually going for in this relationship — the real, achievable thing?

2.What’s my exit, and who’s my ally?

3.What do I need to take back at the gates on the way out?

  • Healing the Mother Wound: Reparenting Yourself After Trauma

What happens when the mother who was supposed to protect you didn't, or when she competed with you, bullied you, or made you the problem? In this episode of our Healing from Sexual Trauma season, we go deeper into healing the mother wound and what it means to reparent yourself after sexual trauma.

We talk about the two wounds so many women carry fused together: what happened to you, and who didn't come. We name the mother wound that rarely gets spoken; the jealous, competitive, or emotionally unsafe mother, sometimes called a narcissistic mother; and how growing up with her can shape the fawn response. We explore why the freeze so many survivors blame themselves for was never consent. It was a survival skill learned at the kitchen table.

    In this episode:

•The difference between the event and the abandonment

•When your mother was your first bully

•How fawning learned in childhood connects to freezing later

•Recognizing your inner critic as her voice, not yours

•Finding the mother within and why you don't have to build her from scratch

•Brigid, the foster-mother goddess, and being mothered by more than the woman who bore you

•A guided GLOW™ practice and three journal prompts

This is part one of two. Next week: how to stay whole when she's still in your life.
