The Aylesbury Murders & The Abergavenny Castle Massacre
News of the Times Episode 420 | 1822 & 1175
In today’s episode, we are in Aylesbury in 1822. Elderly couple, Mr and Mrs Needle are well known, living at the toll house where they take the tolls for those who wish to pass into town.
With no response at their door, a way is forced in where people are greeted with a horrific sight. Elderly Mrs Needle has had her head bashed in and lies surrounded by her own brains from the viciousness of the attack. Mr Needle lies in bed in a similar state.
The murders in their brutality and against impoverished elderly respectable residents horrifies the community and action is swiftly taken to find and apprehend the guilty parties.
In our further particulars segment we look at the infamous 1175 Abergavenny castle Christmas massacre which is said to have been the inspiration for the Red Wedding episode within the series Game of Thrones. The massacre had an impact between Welsh -Anglo relations for centuries.
Two stories of betrayal in the bloody Aylesbury Murders and Abergavenny Castle Christmas Massacre.
Hosted by Robin Coles.
