Seanie 'Irish' Monaghan is a Long Beach, New York native and runner up to Joe Smith Jr. in the 2009 New York Golden Gloves competition. In the professional ranks, the Light Heavyweight contender battled elite fighters like Marcus Brown, Sullivan Barrera, and Callum Johnson. 

Seanie was very successful in the ring, with a pro record of (29-3). He was the former WBC Continental and NABO Light Heavyweight Champion, having won the WBC Continental Americas championship in 2012, which he defended seven times. He also famously portrayed Cassius Clay’s opponent, Henry Cooper, in the film, “One Night in Miami.

Monaghan joined The Bad Promoter to discuss his background as a fighter. He covered topics like his impressive activity, love for fighting growing up, when he felt he was at his best as a fighter, and the politics of boxing among other topics. The Bad Promoter is back to discuss the problem with fandom in the boxing industry. There is a self-fulling prophecy (in relation to PPV buys, media coverage, and fan engagement) that is directly driven by negativity from the most common fans in boxing. This has plagued the most popular fighters in the industry and is something that must be changed for the betterment of the sport. 

We also took some time to discuss my thoughts on the HUGE matchup between Ryan Garcia vs Tank Davis and the Charlo brothers.
